These ponies were made on my own time and then offered for sale. Thank you to *xXMioXx and *plasters-ponies for giving the lovely leading ladies of Touhorse new homes!
It seems that there is not much overlap between people who follow me for my customs and those who follow me for Touhorse. I believe the meeting of these two parties was more than inevitable.
Custom fans, I am also known for drawing pony crossovers with the Touhou Project video games, known as Touhorse. Please forgive me for prattling on about these characters you know nothing about. At least you can check out what they look like pre-ponification.
Touhorse fans, I also create customized figures out of store-bought pony toys on commission for money. Please forgive me for ruining your waifus by bringing them into the Third Dimension.
Are we all on the same page? Good.
I needed some guinea pigs to try out the Apoxie Sculpt, new paint brand and other materials before starting on my paid commissions, and Touhorses leading ladies proved to be just the ticket. Working on them gave me a much better understanding of my media, and now that Im a few commissions in, Ive cleaned them up and offer them for sale to the general public!
Both ponies use the baits original hair, Marisas is au natural and Reimus has been dyed brown from pink. To give the bang-less Pinkie Pie bait the illusion of bangs for Reimu, I wove strands of her hair from the back of her neck to the front and vice versa, so her bangs are actually the hair that would normally fall around her shoulders, and the back of her hair is actually rooted at the top of her head. This style has been boil-set and is secured by her bow, which is held in place by a pin.
All hard-sculpted components have been made in Apoxie Sculpt. I cant really stand the bland :I face of the pony toys, so I resculpted over their muzzles to give them some personality (particularly proud of Marisas determined badass grin). Marisas hat and Reimus bow (with some difficulty) can be removed. Everything else, including Reimus wraps, are firmly anchored to the custom.
The Touhorses have been painted with Folk Art and Apple Barrel acrylics, plus white Liquitex Medium Body acrylic, since the coverage of the cheaper white paints is not very good. They have been sealed with Testors Dullcote Spray, with their eyes topped off with Liquitex gloss.
And yes, whenever I make a custom toy of a Touhorse I shall try to think of some silly fitting pony name for it. Can’t wait to see what I get to think up next!
Availability:
All Touhorses are available for recommission! Note me if you are interested in your own Touhorse. Most Touhorses belong in the Heavy Sculpting category, costing around $60.
