Azul Thunder & Shield Wing OC couple commission!

Paid commission request to hand craft a customer’s original characters representing her couple. Pony bases are a generation 4 Cadence and Shining Armor. Funny thing is the Shining Armor base had the fur hair but I stripped that all off and now the  
Cadence base has faux fur for hair xD  
Severed the horns off of both figures, I used the original wings on Cadence by just boiling the body and folding them down while it air dried. Shining armor base has wings severed off of a small fakie, they are glued in place with e6000 glue.  
Both bases coated in white gesso to give a solid base texture for the acrylics to bond to.  
Full body repaints in pale gray acrylics, Shield Wing has white wings and up his legs, and silver hooves. Was request that Azul Thunder have light blue eyes, and Shield Wing have brown/orange eyes so I did those in my style. Both have cutiemarks, Azul Thunder’s are black clouds with bright blue lightning bolts but due to camera angles they ended up not being very visible in these pics but they were clear in a video clip I sent to the customer after I freshly crafted her. Shield Wing’s cutiemark is a blue shield with white wings. All paint work sealed in Artists Varnish.
 
Azul Thunder’s mane and tail have long lightning streaks in them, so I had to come up with a method to properly execute that kind of detail. I think this is my first time coming up with this type of method, but I used black faux fur for her mane and tail then carefully cut out long lightning bolt streaks from dyed blue thick thick leather, then glued them into place in the faux fur. I’m feeling pretty confident about the results and am proud for figuring out how to do it and make it look representable. I think it stems from my love for crafting OC’s and I just want to make them happen. They spark inspiration for budding artists expressing interest so I like to let that shine through.  
After the mane and tail, I equipped her necklace and black wrist bands. The necklace is thick black wire with a painted pendant that has a wired loop of floral wire. Wrist bands are bias tape.
 
After painting Shield Wing, I made him his glasses by shaping thick black wire with pliers. The lenses are transparent plastic from pony merchandise packaging.  
Mane and tail are rooted in nylon mlp dollyhair in the colors amaretto, butterscotch and chocolate pudding. Mane Is styled and permanently in place.
 
I did a redesign of armor concept presented by customer, and but the armor pieces from faux silver vinyl, then painted the deep blue details on. I then lined the blue areas with a line of darker silver paint. Crafted a painted leather blue shield emblem on front of chest, glued it to silver wing pendant. Finished the piece off with various rhinestone detailing throughout the armor.
