The show was pretty clear that Hearth’s Warming was when the country was founded and created. The concept of what the country is has probably changed over time, but that was when it was first formed.

There’s nowhere in the show that states that Equestria was founded after Discord and Nightmare Moon.
And well,while your example of Egypt and Spain is interesting they are just assumptions,like that “Celestia goes into sleep slumber” bit.
I don’t think the writers would overcomplicate themselves either.
The order is:
Hearth’s Warming
Equestria founded
Discord’s reign
Royal Sisters defeat Discord
Celestia banishes Nightmare Moon
Anything else is just speculation.
Stopped reading there. Why do people add in these headcanon events which have never been confirmed by the show?
Considering that most of season writers seemed not to do anything with Luna (except for random cameos from the animators) it wouldn’t Surprise me the simply didn’t add her.
But let’s say it was before Celestia’s solo.It still doesn’t make sense.When Celestia explained about Discord in Return Of Harmony,she said he was ruling Equestria before she and Luna stood against him.
Equestria was already founded.
Before Celestia’s Reign. Not before the Sisters had ruled Together.
No,it was Before.
In Hearth Warming Eve,Spike said it was long.LONG before Celestia’s reign.
This is probably the least sensible timeline I’ve seen.
Unless Starswirl found a way to extend his life to a certain point,I really doubt he lived to witness the whole Crystal Empire and Nightmare Moon events,considering he was the teacher of Clover the Clever,one of the founders of Equestria and that was a shitload of years before Celestia and Luna.
