Actually, Kora did this Twilight before she knew anything about Equestria Girls (apparently Hasbro initially only told the staff to do human versions of the characters). After that, she and the team moved on to do differently-proportioned designs with skin colours similar to the characters’ pony counterparts.
But monster high was a total success in 2012 and hasbro knew that making something similar would waranty them easy money
It would’ve been better, but the design we got is fine enough for me.
Come to think of it… Equestria Girls in Harry Potter. I wonder how that could work?
Yes… Or it was before Hasbro explained what they wanted for Equestria Girls. Pretty sure they initially only said to the staff they were planning to do a spin-off with human versions of the characters.
Judging by the wand she’s got in her hand, I’d say they were once going for a “Harry Potter” style theme.
According to Kora Kosicka, it’s a chibi version of Twilight Sparkle’s first EqG design. So… Yes.
