There was that one Mobile game actually, (that’s still going/being updated) and that scrapped puzzle game, but yeah, a game on an actual game system, or a more traditional game would’ve been nice.
 
Wayforward (River City Girls, Shantae, Ducktales Remastered, Contra 4, Batman: Brave & the Bold) once expressed interest in doing a MLP:FIM game, and stated they are huge fans of Lauren Faust. Shame nothing came of that, as they actually make GREAT licensed games.

Well of course it wasn’t good, it was a low priority, low budget G3 video game. But at least G3 tried. An attempt existed to get a few purchases from fans. They actually produced a tiny budget to get a game created hoping for a small return despite the small fandom.
 
And what does G4 do with its infinitely bigger fanbase? Nothing! Hasbro likes money, we live in a gamer generation. It’s a match made in heaven. I find it hard to believe there wasn’t 1 person at Hasbro during the 9 years of MLP:FiM that suggested a potentially profitable marketing avenue for MLP, video games.

In fairness, the G3 game wasn’t even good.

A traditional turnbased RPG set in Equestria where you get to explore all the landmarks and places from the show would be awesome.

Its even more disappointing when you realize that G3 actually had more sense and created a G3 Pinkie Pie game. And the mobile game is not exactly anything resembling a game.
 
G3 MLP: A several thousand kids and adult fans, 1 game  
G4 MLP: Many million kids and adult fans, 0 games

You know I find it rather disappointing that they make so many fake video games on the show and yet no real ones, I mean this would totally be awesome to play
