One of my favorite things in the show is that it’s very clear that Fluttershy loves animals – all animals – wholeheartedly and unconditionally, including things people would find creepy or scary or gross. She’s usually seen with the typical following of woodland critters you’d expect for a character like her – rabbits and squirrels and white mice and a bear – but she’s just as often shown hanging out with and befriending snakes and spiders and baby crocodiles and the like, and it’s clear that she sees no difference between the first sort of creatures and the second. They’re all critters and they’re all perfect to her.

Fluttershy making friends with the ickiest of creepy crawlies is her most endearing trait.
