Luna said that she and her sister will be in the Silver Shores after retirement if Twilight needs their help. But where it actually is? Is it in Equestria, or somewhere else?

To add to my second reply to you now that I see it again, Luna pretty much spent most of her life on the moon due to a 1000 years.
Certainly her time up there outweighed on how long Luna lived before the NMM incident happened.
Its really not right that Luna doesn’t get to experience life properly on there with it being cut short like that compared to how Celestia got to.
Luna didn’t get to enjoy her time compared to how Celestia got to. Didn’t get to enjoy her destiny of raising the moon for much either.
At least Celestia during the 1000 years actually got to EXPERIENCE life and interacted with others and live life, Luna lost a 1000 years of her life by being stuck on the moon.

Still prefer Luna getting to experience more on life and such..
Really felt like she got the short end of the stick here due to destiny and such..
Well, she did have a long and presumably interesting childhood, per the Journal of the Two Sisters tie-in book. And there’s presumably no better incentive to permanently move to the world beyond than a thousand years of envy and anger.
Besides that, they both are built for eternity, not the never ending cycle of birth and death. Their hearts yearn for friendships that last centuries, not decades. Only in the Elysian Fields of Caelum can they be satisfied.
And it’s not like it was a good time for Celestia either. She spent a thousand years in regret, running a country without her sister, foiling her Nightmare plots at least thrice.
Edited because: I thought of another good point
Kind of bothers me since Luna did not enjoy much time in that world compared to Celestia due to losing a 1000 years because of the NMM mess..
In that vein, I can see the birth of Flurry Heart as a signal to the Royal Pony Sisters that their time is over, and they must cede their place and the machinery of the world to the mortal ponies.
With how things were basically handed like how she(not counting TWABA) ultimately ends up succeeding where the sisters failed(while the writers have Luna and Celestia fall flat on their faces repeatedly).
And how the tree is really having its eyes on her such as her cutie mark being on the tree above the sisters’ cutie marks(which said 2 cutie marks apparently mean nothing since the sisters have lost their connection to the Elements) and how the tree even freaking takes the form of Twilight when wanting to speak with someone like the Student 6.
And how do you know that Twilight is the chosen one? She could easily be a placeholder for some further goal of the Tree of Harmony. Hell, Twilights reign may only happen because Twilight or one of her friends children might be the chosen one. Or even some lineage they will create far further down the line.
It really felt like destiny(or should I say the Tree of Harmony?) screwed over the Royal Sisters for the sake of its “chosen one” Twilight Sparkle.
While I adore Twilight(she adorkable book princess) but I do harbor a bitterness about her with how the writers treated Luna and Celestia for Twilight there.
When the sisters weren’t included in the final rainbow laser despite they used the Elements before and their cutie marks were on the tree of harmony, its the final nail for me that pretty much the sisters are screwed due to losing their connections to the Elements. With that damn plant ultimately views Luna and Celestia as “placeholders” that shall be tossed aside when the REAL heroes and REAL ruler arrives, just now only to be “failures” to make Twilight look good.
I bet Harmony even counted on Luna snapping and becoming Nightmare Moon just so she can be used as a “starter villain” for that plant’s “chosen one”.
Really.. all of this is coming from my bitterness that I have from that stuff.
I love the show but the treatment of the Royal Sisters(and Spike) just.. argh..
Your rant is perfect, especially this part “Twilight should just remind the sisters that raising the sun/moon is part of their destinies and decline on receiving their powers over them”
Yes exactly this I wanted, Royal Sisters is can be disappeared/retired and moved unknown place but they can still control sun/moon reminds everyone Royal Sisters, now they just a alicorn does nothing not even control sun/moon which is their cutie mark.
Like I said before about retirement, everything is too forced.Writers just wants a giving everything to show’s main character.
Edited
While it sort of make sense for Celestia wanting to retire due to ruling so long(and without Luna) but still doesn’t make sense for Luna since she didn’t rule for much long. Really there could have been a comprise for her to rule at least for a 1000 more years(to make up for the years she lost) and be with Celestia after sunbutt retires. Or at least some conflict for Luna, really.. I feel like theres so many issues/consequences for Luna retiring but got brushed aside.
Honestly.. Twilight should just remind the sisters that raising the sun/moon is part of their destinies and decline on receiving their powers over them. Or at least let Luna continue raising the moon since she didn’t not get to enjoy her destiny as much there. In fact I wish Luna would continue being dream-guardian.
If she had to give up those powers to Twilight too, then Luna really got the short end of the stick while Twilight is going to go through much hell during her duties. But if Luna still kept them but doesn’t do that anymore and Equestria being ultimately fine without Luna’s dreamguarding, then her job of protecting the dream realm is ultimately pointless in a way in the end.
Sorry about the um.. rant. Just really did not like this direction the writers took for the sisters and felt like Luna really got the short end of the stick here. Like it makes it look like destiny has it so the sisters have to give everything up to Twilight(the REAL ruler and hero) with how the writers handled Luna and Celestia. That’s how I feel like how the writers were handling them, especially during major crisis stuff.

Just hated that they didn’t bother telling us how were Luna and Celestia doing after the timeskip.
Really felt like it was kind of important to tell us since they were so integrated into the plot, especially the retirement crap.
Apparently they didn’t make it in due to the writers saying there wasn’t enough time or space to add the missing characters like the Sisters in. Which kind of adds salt to the wound since apparently the Royal Sisters aren’t important enough to be prioritized in being included in what happens after the timeskip.
The thought of seeing them(especially Luna) going from majestic princesses to.. just ponies living with a bunch of old wrinkled ponies really.. doesn’t suit them.
Its bad enough that Luna was retiring despite she didn’t get to rule much long, but the fact she’s going to live with a bunch of old ponies now is just.. arg.. What’s worse is how apparently according to Jim Miller, the sisters gave up their power to the sun/moon(even though its part of their cutie marks, their freaking destinies), meaning Luna can’t raise the moon anymore despite not getting to do it much since her return(and she got overshadowed with how Celestia was raising the moon for a 1000 years too). It also means the sisters are now weaker, as in literally nerfted now.
And with how things went for them in the finale with basically falling flat on their faces again on their very last days as rulers(no, distracting the trio and turning the powerless villains to stone after they’ve been dealt with doesn’t fix that), pretty much ending their rules on very bad notes(with Luna suffering more due to her track record looks worse compared to Celestia’s due to the 1000 year gap and the NMM fiasco). I felt like they got pretty bad sendoffs from the finale.
All of this made the retirement bit much worse to me.
It just.. I feel so bitter on how the Royal Sisters were handled here and I feel like Luna really got the short end of the stick here compared to Celestia.
Just felt like venting this out..
While its understandable that Celestia would experience burnout due to ruling for a 1000 years(especially without Luna), but its iffy that Luna felt that way too due to she just got back from the moon since a few years at most.
It just bothered me that Luna did not rule equally as long as Celestia did.
If her reason to retire is to be with Celestia, then they didn’t convey that good enough honestly. At least to me it wasn’t executed right.
Heck, there could have been a conflict on Luna torn between ruling a 1000 more years to make up for lost time or be with Celestia.
It bothers me in seeing majestic alicorns going from princesses to.. living with old ponies.
Really doesn’t seem like a good send off for the royal sisters(especially with how things went for them in the finale)
It is canon that Celestia and Luna had both been tired of reigning in Equestria, especially in recent times after the regime had changed from a monarchy to an administration with a large bureaucracy for which they had to act as administrators. It’s no wonder Celestia regarded her student as the perfect successor, Twilight Sparkle loved paperwork and is a natural and efficient bureaucrat at heart. The now legendary checklists are an important index to what is essential in the government of Equestria.
In Silver Shoals, which also served as a vacation and relaxation resort, there are certainly many villas and smaller holiday homes for wealthy people from all over the country - they are ponies, so they do not need strong sun and warm weather - it is certainly a small castle for the two sisters. It is possible that there are several castles for Celestia and Luna all over Equestria, although they will not be as large or magnificent as in Canterlot and the Everfree forest.
Today, we have two popes in life - one had chosen to retire and thus retired for the rest of his life, while the other who followed him had become responsible for the Catholic Church. This example showed that one did not have to sit in a position of power in life when one can retreat at his own free will. It did not mean that he or she would retire or be at the end of his life.
A power point! XD
Meanwhile, Celestia greeted Twilight in the astral plane, a place of light and spirit, with a PowerPoint.
Exactly
Yeah, I dont think Celestia did anything with dreams going by the one episode she actually had to. She seemed clueless.
That makes me feel better, though I have this head canon that Luna not her sister can slip between a physical and spiritual realm.
Alicorns can slip between the spirit world and the regular world at will, no death required. She can have a picnic a century hence with all the girls, and return to Canterlot from her lunch break.
it’s sad, indeed
