I was already aware of the status of the castle at this point in the story, I was just surprised to see it drawn new for this shot.

Uh, it’s actually not this weird for the show.
 
  1. Nightmare Moon was lasered into goodness, not talked down.
     
  2. Discord was reformed after the fact and was lasered into stone. Treated as absolute evil before that.
     
  3. Chrysalis was blasted off in her first appearance and treated as absolutely evil. No redemption attempt.
     
  4. Sombra was blown up and treated as absolutely evil. No redemption attempt.
     
  5. Tirek was treated as absolute evil and thrown in Tartarus again. No redemption attempt.
     
  6. Starlight was the first they tried to reason with and redeemed in show.
     
  7. First redemption attempt with Chrysalis, rejected. Redemption attempted by a redeemed villain.
     
  8. Redemption attempt again caused by Starlight, before everyone was ready to seasl up the Pony of Shaodws with Stygian forever.
     
  9. Neighsayer was only redeemed due to circumstances.
     
  10. Cozy Glow shown as absolute evil, thrown in Tartarus.
     
  11. Sombra treated as evil, disintegrated.
     
  12. Storm King treated as absolute evil, smashed.
     
  13. Tempest, second redeem attempt, only worked because betrayal
     
  14. And now this
     
    For EQG
     
  15. Sunset lasered into redemption
     
  16. Sirens forced to runaway.
     
    It’s only after Princess Twilight stopped being involved that more redemptions started happening thanks to Sunset and some Starlight.

Wow.  
Well, at last it seems the’re portraying these three as absolutely, undeniably and indisputably evil, with no chance of redemption. which is weird for this show, but very good overall.
