In a crazy coincidence, “Growing Up is Hard to Do” (which showed her adult body with foal-size wings) would air about a month after this comic was published.

Scootaloo and Rumble had been a popular ship for years before this comic was published - one would certainly expect this scene to add more fuel to that fire.

It’s good, except for the part where a practical solution to Scootaloo’s handicap is basically shoved in her face, and she never offers even the briefest acknowledgement that it might be of use to her.

Though going back to “Growing Up is Hard to Do”, it would offer a logical explanation for her apparently not giving a damn that her wings didn’t grow with the rest of her (despite multiple scenes suggesting her wishing she could fly) - she’d know that even if there ends up being no hope of flying naturally, she has options.
