Ive got another idea, so in this world, there are temples like this, the ponies can use to pray to their goddesses, but what if there were other structures and temples, not for the worshippers, but for the use of the goddesses themselves?  
Like Landmarks, that have been repurposed to act as furniture? Like how dragonlord torch had a mountain as a throne.
 
The great Plateau from breath of the wild could be used as a Dining room table. By the time the game starts, the Plateau was sealed off, the only way you can leave it is by Paragliding, however, before the calamity, there was a staircase built through the cliff itself, that provided Access.  
Worshippers from all over the land could bring shipments of Food as offerings to their goddess to the Plateau and once its set up, they ring the dinnerbell in the temple of time.

Interesting, but if they can create the laws of Physics, they could just adjust them to their Needs, which would make Things too easy. For the sake of the Story, they should be powerful, but in a way, thats problematic, like accidentally causing earthquakes etc.  
Thats also, why id like for their plane to be in space, so that we get some size difference stuff between them and the planet.

I imagine that whenever the princesses are talking to one another, they speak in either a language or frequency that normal ponies can’t comprehend, and all they hear is the universe screeching at itself louder than rocket engine… Even better, imagine if whatever deific language they speak is capable of causing physical effects in the world, much like the Voice from Skyrim, with words that can summon waves of fire, or make objects incorporeal, or cast down brilliant storms of lightning from the sky…
 
Going back to the talk about places the princesses could exist safely, what if I borrow again from the Elder Scrolls series, and suggest that they have their own planes of existence, where they create the laws of physics and control reality… Perhaps, in these planes, they are the size of a normal pony, but when they enter the material world they appear as giants!

Or how About the alicorn space thingy from the Season 3 finale, or the Dream realm from sweetie belles Dream Episode, except its actual space, with celestia just chilling on a Cloud of stardust somewhere near the solar System.
 
If Celestia and Luna are both gods, they might get into an arguement, their Voices being heard through the vacuum of space, vibrating the very fabric of the universe, rather than air, even the universe being barely big enough for both of them
 
With two goddesses they could have their typical sibling rivalry, starswirl could be the medium/teacher

I know that most of the planes in D&D were described as flat earths, but I don’t think size or limits were ever mentioned, so I always assumed them to be infinite.

Well… She is a literal god in this universe, perhaps the world she found herself in is much like the canon D&D world, as in it’s a flat plane that extends outward infinitely… Perhaps she just has a massive space, thousands and thousands of kilometres in diameter, larger than the surface area of most planets, where she allows herself to move around freely, but shrinks when leaving that place to go talk to her subjects…

Oh hey NC. Yup, sounds good, but what if, instead of being switching between the physical and non-physical world, celestia just goes to space? Like, she is normally, so huge, she doesnt fit on the planet, but shrinks herself down, whenever she descends to interact with her subjects?
 
The compression causing Problems is definitely a great plot Point, i think i wrote a couple of ideas for that, back when you did the big celly Comic on Tumblr, under the username proclarushtaonasat?
 
Anyway, celestia could try to vent off some of her magical Energy, by firing a beam off into space (it would look like the final Flash from dbz). She just Needs to make sure, the recoil doesnt knock her on her behind.
 
For flying, she could try, to jump up first, and make the first flap in the uppermost atmosphere, and just glide to wherever she Needs to go

The gears are absolutely turning, here. You know, I feel like Celestia should be able to size-shif at least to an extent. Maybe half the size of these images or so? Flying would be the best way of getting around but she can’t quite do that without generating a hurricane, you know? Or maybe she can only be in the physical for so long and being at a small size condenses all her power so she can’t do it for long?

True again… It would make a great fic… The closest thing I can think of would be this little masterpiece, but a story like the one you suggest would also be pretty fun.

Thats why one of the first goddess lessons would be, how to walk around without causing mass destruction, by Controlling their mass or something.

True. Though each hoof-step would result in a Tunguska Event, and each time she sleeps she becomes a biological mountain… So, yeah, the environment would get pretty fucked up… Slamming her hoof down could result in volcanic eruptions, tidal waves, and potential planetary extinction.

true, but its a magical world after all. Were already violating square-cubic law. Maybe goddesses arent made of the same type of matter, but are Energy manifested, like holo-matter, so theyre lighter than they look? I dunno But the landscape Thing sounds fun.  
The reason i want two of them, is that it would make such a good premise for a Story. Remember, when Starlight and Trixie had to share her Caravan? Basically that, but on a planetary scale. But when one of them Drinks all the Juice, its really all the Juice, and theyd have to wait, for their worshippers to produce more.

Already one of them is a bit too much… My understanding of physics tells me that, should a creature as large as this Celestia exist, it would play havoc with gravity and pretty well ruin the planet’s landscape, neither of which sound like good ideas.
