When you phrase it that way, it sounds like I need to watch the actual episode. I just thought it was that Spike had a new gryphon gf and not that he suddenly stopped being friends with Rarity. If she’s really this disheartened about the loss of potential romance and not friendship, that’s inconsistent with her previous behavior where she was clearly not interested in considering Spike as a being with romantic agency.
