I think Twi’s cutie mark might be even more relevant to her actual destiny, IMO. Instead of her cutie mark being that she is good at magic, instead, it is that she understands the magic of friendship.

I think personality powers will be only for unicorns. Earth ponies probably will have magic related to their talents.

I know, right? It’s obvious that she won’t look like that, but since the final designs may have bits and pieces from the concept arts, I hope Twilight’s final design inherits the Cutie Mark and coat pattern from this version.

So the G5 ponies will be very different from the G4 ponies and similar to the G1 ponies known for the magic associated with their personalities. After all, it is not well known that the G1 ponies had magical abilities related to their cutie mark and personalities.
 
This means that G5 will not be a continuation of G4 as with G1 Transformers and Beast Wars: Transformers at Hasbro. This is good news in itself if this is correct.

Earth Pony magic? We know too little about the magic of pegasi and earth ponies from FiM, only that it is internal and thus works through the hooves and wings as a rule. This may mean that the G5 ponies will be different from the G4 ponies. But if the G5 Twilight Sparkle can use magic through her hooves it can be very interesting.
 
For usually, an earth pony is very strong, far more enduring and able to manipulate anyone in the soil, and cause plants to grow without much effort. We know before that pegasi can lift heavy objects by making them weightless and have them in the clouds which can be made harder by the use of pegasi magic.
 
I feel like the FiM TV show and the IDW comics had been too ignorant to magical creatures outside of the unicorns and the alicorns. Even after 9 years, there is very little about the intricate details of magic in different races.

The last G3 special was a year before G4 started. And Rainbow Dash was changed from an Earth pony that loves fashion to a tomboy Pegasus (among the many changes).
