@Hivequeenmother
I’ve seen “gynosphinx” thrown around to generally mean the sphinx with a lion body and a human face, but it’s very rarely used. It probably doesn’t help either, at least if you want to get pedantic, that there’s even two distinct types of mythological sphinx: the Greek one that has no wings, is always female, tells riddles, and is a monster, and the Egyptian sphinx which has wings, can be male, female, or even have animal heads, and is a guardian diety XD
@BigBuggyBastage
We’re talking classification though. Having no distinction between types of sphinx is if tags like “pony”, “human”, and “anthro” didn’t exist and people were like “Meh, it’s Twilight Sparkle good enough” :P
@Badumsquish
What if we suggest/talk about a possible classification? For example, a lioness-faced sphinx could be called a Leosphinx. the sphinx with the torso of a woman like a centaur we could call it taursphinx. a wolf with the face of a woman. we could call it lupusphinx. see if they like them and create more classification, for other types of Sphinx.
@Badumsquish
like the sphinx that does not have a human face but that of a lioness? or the one that looked like a Centaurus, but they changed the body of a horse for one of a lioness?
@Hivequeenmother
I definitely wish people would make more an effort to tag such things differently. Like, the furry fandom has about 12 different hyper-specific terms for the shapes of legs alone, but they can’t separate mythological sphinxes from everything else that people refer to as a sphinx? :P
@Badumsquish
Yes, I also like monsters with human faces and breasts. almost all female Greek monsters.
the Sphinx, the Harpy, and the Lamia are some of my favorites
also the female naga in Hindu stories and
the serpentine woman from Japan Nure Onna
I admit that I like to see that detail of female human faces and breasts or other human detail in the creatures since they make them see them in a disturbing or beautiful way
@Background Pony #A3B4
Nah, Princess. I heard that Lauren originally wanted Celestia to be a queen, but Disney popularizing the idea of the “evil queen” made Hasbro advise against that, so Tia was demoted before the series started.
Don’t worry :)
Lol oops, yeah I got that part backwards XD
wait I thought that the Greek sphinx was the one with the wings while the Egyptian one had no wings
I admit that we have some to many similarities

Yeah. Like, I like those designs too. I just wish they’d come up with separate names :P

That’s like the opposite of a human face XD
I’d watch show about My Little Sphinx :D
that had more animal traits then human
Pretty much. I love monsters with human heads. Nothing ruins a good sphinx picture like giving it a cat face instead of a human face :P

Thank you your honor
