sorry Spikey :(
The problem is that, as was pointed out in previous comments, OP left out the crucial part of the quote they’re referencing: “including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
Yeah, it’s all perspective. I mean, you know, judging is one of humanity’s favourite pastimes!
That’s precisely the problem. Your “split second judgement” is the most unreliable thing of all. It’s completely subjective.
Man, that’s some psychiatrist’s lecture notes. That doesn’t tell us what maturity is or which people are mature or how much maturity we have. Other’s maturity is always based on our split second judgement of said person.

Uhhh… I don’t know what there is to disagree here but shit, I’m down.
You know what? If you still think MLP is not a kid show then good for you, I honestly regret join in this conversation in the first place. I guess this time to agree to disagree

Hahahha, I was just making a humorous list, don’t be ashamed, I wack off too every day!
But but it says right there “APROPRIATE for children”, not “this is explicitly for children”
I find it hilarious that you refer to grown adults that watch it and don’t have children as, and I quote, “horny, lonely men masturbating to the show”. As if there were no other reason adult, childless men would want to watch the show. You’re literally stating the media’s view that the fandom has struggled against for the longest time as a fact when it’s not.
Eveything that are rated TV-Y and TV-Y7 meant for children, though TV-Y7 meant for children older than 7 and TV-Y for all ages.

IF you are talking about show that aren’t meant to for child but they can still watch it. Well, it’s TV-G, it’s mostly compose of documentary video, such as How it’s made, How They do it and Cosmos, though some documentary can be rated TV=PG even TV-14, this usually the one that talk about wars, criminal investigation and animal documentary that involving how they hunt their preys.

Ahhh… okkkk… I’m going off too..?
I just found it silly that OP was talking about “childish garbage” while using a show about technicolor ponies as an example but go off
No, Mr. Mathematics man, it is not a show for children. Or is it? Is it? Is it not? That is the question.
Taking into account the rating (TV-Y), meaning “Television appropriate for the young”, the ammount of children watching the show, the ammount of parents watching the show with their children, the ammount of teens watching the show and making art and fiction and whatnot, the ammount of horny lonely men mastrubating to the show, the ready avalability of watching the show (no restrictions), little to no judgement for simply watching cartoons, the structure of the in-franchise universe
and the 8-year olds playing violent video games,
I come to the conclusion that ratings are just there for the sake of a label and don’t reflect on the ages of the viewing audience.
>My Little Pony is not a show for children
am I being rused
Exactly. It is not.
Yes, you did. What CaptainGrumpy said implies that watching this show, means you can’t tell someone to grow up or mature.
I don’t know what business you’d have saying that, but there you go.
LMAO
…I literally never said otherwise.
