A lot of folks say that her becoming an alicorn was one of the worst things to happen, but imo I think it’s an achievement.

Given how well the writers have handled most of the plots of the episodes, or hell, how well the writers took a material driven show based on a line of toys for young girls and turned it into a very well written, entertaining, and enjoyable show for girls and boys of all ages, I for one trust them to handle the whole Alicorn Twilight thing well.

Well, in light of the new synopsis, alicorn Twilight doesn’t look so bad. She will change destinies of everyone and she will temporarily happen to be a unicorn princess. It will probably be really awesome - after all, it’s in an “alternate universe” setting and not in the current universe.

They’ve turned some other seemingly execrable ideas into pure gold. I’m fine with Alicorn Twilight, unless and until she shows up and actually isn’t wonderful. Which I don’t expect to happen.

maybe wht they’ll do is that the princess will give her the option to become one and she will for a while but she will be asked to be turned back into a unicorn so that she can be with her friends instead of being royal

It’s not a big deal. Who knows, what that will lay in store for us in S4. Who knows, It may even open the possibility of a story arc finally. The elements of harmony don’t have to teach Twilight the magic of friendship anymore, They have shown here what is best, now she will have to put that knowledge to the test… I guess. lol

Three things potentially wrong with Twilight becoming an alicorn:  
  1. Potetial to become a “Mary Sue”  
  2. Possible that series is ending soon  
  3. It’s just not the same Twilight we know from these past seasons, so maybe there’s some emotional attachment to Twilight simply being an adorkable unicorn.

I think that some people are afraid that twilight become some kind of perfect character, even in her mind instead being herself to remove any form of psychological flaw she might have, leading people to be afraid of loosing her on a deeper way that if they just give her wings or telekinetic flying.
 
I understand their frustration and I can’t say I wouldn’t feel the same way if I believed in permanent alicorn twilight.

The bile directed at this concept should not be surprising. I suspect it has its genesis in the same root that started the Derpy flamewars.
 
That root being the assertation that someone is not “just fine the way they are.” That some inherent quality about their person is somehow flawed by its very nature.
