I just finished reading the MLP comic issue #73, and I couldn’t help but notice that Mascara Maroon somehow managed to stumble her way into the official comic book! I mean, I know the colors are swapped, but that’s totally her!
I’m kinda surprised noone has pointed this out before now, am I the first person to notice this?
I know a lot of people are probably gonna be mad about this, but I gotta say, if I were in Pencils’s place, I’d be itchin’ to toss a few of my own OCs in the comic too. And I bet you would too. ;P

I think it’s much more likely what someone said earlier in the comments. That since the comic was colored in by someone else, they did it without being aware of the OC.

IDW might have had issues with that, as Mascara has also been somewhat lewded there. A color swap is the fig leaf of modesty here.

After all, we do have ponies in MLP with matching cutie marks but not coloration, mostly background stuff.
Like I said, it’s probably because the artist felt that a sexual-themed cutie mark was pushing the limits a little too far for an MLP comic.
My point is than in every page the Cutie Mark is conveniently covered by her tail. ;)
Because that Oc’s Cutie Mark (Sappho not Mascara Maroon) is a symbol for female homosexuality.
