… then again, (although it’s on a vid and haven’t drawn it yet) Starlight already offered to let her go provided she’d stick around until Spike showed up, but…she didn’t want to do that…

Well, the twist of Grogar being Discord was planned from day one of season nine production.
I think it was b/c the writers had to pull something out of their ass mid to early season when they found out it would be the last one. Several ppl I know wanted to see Grogar in action like in G1.
BTW, I’m going to put warnings on my comment posts from now on, as well as spoiler them so that the reader knows not to look at it if they don’t like drama.
Still, I just wish the LOD remained the secondary antagonists. In Frenemies they made it pretty obvious that they’d fail to betray Grogar.

I mean, the Big Bad has summoned some previous Big Bads who are obviously terrified of him, then in the finale they finally betray him and become the final antagonists?! AAAAAAGH! That’s the dumbest idea for a series finale I’ve ever heard!!
Seriously, the Saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon from the 90s ended with a cliffhanger and even that’s a better ending than what we have here?
