This actually makes a lot of sense. This is probably the first time that someone actually tried to treat him as a person rather than as either an enemy or a means to an end. Even Celestia is only willing to release him because she thinks she can gain something from it. Fluttershy is being nice to him only because she thinks it’ll benefit him.

So is Discord to Fluttershy what Twilight is to Celestia?

@PrincessMolestia Actually, I think fluttershy is good as immortal now. Discord could probably cheat the mechanics of death for whoever he wants. Combine that with the fact that he is still selfish and probably does not have much experience with loss, I don’t think he will LET fluttershy die. Even if she objects and he resorts to caging her up forever, because at some point the feeling of loss will become more important than the friendship at it’s source…. even after thousands of years, I suspect Fluttershy to still feel some sympathy for him.

This episode shows that Discord was never really evil to begin with, just indifferent about anyone’s well being as long as he got his laughs.
