Description
Hang on a minute. So a trio of bad guys are using a magic artifact that their boss also wants to use, use it to betray their boss for their own purposes, and the three get a gruesome fate in the end? I don’t know about you, but I’m getting G1 deja vu.

Correction: Now that this is back and the finale actually aired:
First, the general description is so broad and general, that it can be applied to numerous fantasy stories. Having it be a trio instead of a singular minion does make it less so, but the ideas of an inner group double-crossing the lead villain, only to have it backfire is still a common trope. On a singular case, that was what happened in Aladdin and The Forty Thieves. The villain, whatever his name was, wanted the Hand of Midas for himself, and got turned to gold from it.
Second, if you get down to the more specific details, it does vary and become an inaccurate claim. The raptorians were repairing an artifact, not specifically seeking on, which they DID give to Porcina to use herself, which the Mean 3 did not. The raptorians’ transformation was also a result of a magical backlash from accidentally destroying the cape when they tried to take it for themselves, making them the focus of its stored magic, whereas the Mean 3 were changed as punishment for their actions by Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Discord. Their stone statue (not glass), no matter how you feel about it, was a choice made by those in authority of a karmic incident their actions brought upon themselves.
It’s an effort to take broad general tropes, a common concept in fantasy programs and children shows, and try to use it as a claim of ripping off.
And blanket Ponyland in darkness to rule over.
Gen 1 tirek wanted to use the rainbows of darkness right to turn everyone into dragons?
Indeed.
I can’t wait.
it will be sad but funny when G5 comes around and we see compared pictures of whatever G5 brings
I had a feeling you did, given your previous comment. I was just adding onto what you were saying and speaking generally.
I know that.
Speaking of, G1 Tirek isn’t brothers with G1 Scorpan. Scorpan was just a cursed human prince that was kept as his prisoner (along with Spike).
And also G4 Tirek isn’t as evil as G1 Tirek.
So am I. And I gotta say, the raptorians were some of the most evil MLP creatures ever.
but I definitely enjoy comparisons between G1 & G4 too. And those raptorians were pretty insane.
@Smart Heart
Yeah, the similarities are definitely close enough, so I’m glad you reuploaded this!

This time I’m not claiming they ripped it off, but instead just pointing the similarities I found. And since this is an MLP fan site, I figured I’d keep the theme consistent.
That would be Sa’Luk, if you’re referring to the Disney movie.

I don’t agree with them, but I have accepted it. And hey! There’s always the season ten comics to tie up loose ends.

…You have?
I have.
And yet you still hate the finale.
I’m sorry, but you’re just gonna have to accept the fact that a majority of the fandom actually enjoyed MLP’s ending despite Grogar revealed to be Discord.
Yeah, but I had a bit of an episode so I had it taken down. I’ve retweaked it a bit and put a calmer description.
