-Unicorns are very weak. Weak in muscle not bones, like Pegasi… Unicorns can use their magical auroras to do amazing feats of strength but yet most of the time they use their ability for mundane things such as popping balloons. Because of this they’re very frail and most likely can’t win a fight without their magic. They used to be ridiculed, mostly by Earth Ponies, for wasting they’re magical strengths.
- Markings on a Unicorn usually include a lighter underside and a diamond like symbol under the horn, other markings are possible these two are just very common amongst the sub-species… On white coated Unicorns, like Rarity, these markings are invisible. If cross-bred with a Pegasus these markings are more vibrant and if cross-bred with a Earth-Pony, these markings are darker.
-Unicorns have the longest life-span of the the three sub-species.
- The longer a Unicorn’s horn is the older they are. Elderly Unicorns, like Booksmart, are very lucky to still have their horns. For the horn’s protective layer grows twice as weaker than the rest of the body does with age… This is why most elderly ponies are seen as earth ponies because their horns have broken off and couldn’t grow back due to the impact.
- The more curled a horn is the more magical strength the unicorn has. “The little indents also act as a conduit for their magic” ( www.deviantart.com/luckyorigam… )
- Unicorns must have a focal point for their magic, unless the horn is broken. If the horn is damaged than this law is removed fore the only way a broken horned Unicorn, Tempest Shadow, can use magic is with spats of explosive or dangerous illusion. Prosthetics are available but most of them are only for show, it does not help their magical ability. The ones that do are very expensive…
- Baby Unicorns cannot control their magic and often random objects such as toys or even other ponies become their focal point. Many Unicorn parents use corks and stick it to the babies horn to stop these magical blasts of unintended harm. This does not hurt the foal in any way it just gives them another reason to cry.
- It is normal for stallions and mare Unicorns to both have beards.
Cross-breed Headcanons
- If a Pegasus and a Unicorn bore a foal the foal has a 47.5% chance of being a unicorn, a 47.5% of being a Pegasus, and a 5% of being a earth pony. The magical genetics from the mother or father can either rise over the Pegasus genetics to create a unicorn foal, or can not interfere and become a Pegasus, and with the slim chance the biology could crash together resulting in an earth pony.
- Pegasi with a Unicorn parent usually have more magic in their abilities, giving them an extra boost in flying.
- All Unicorns have goat like hooves and lion/whip like tails. These traits can be given to their foals if cross bred, and the whiplike can cause flying problems if the foal is a Pegasus.
- Unicorns with a Pegasus parent are usually better at long distance magic, even with their magic not having the strength of a full-blooded unicorns.
-If a Earth Pony and a unicorn have a foal the baby has a 70% of being an Earth Pony and a 30% of being a unicorn, for the genetics from the Earth Pony parent cancels out the unicorns magical biology most of the time (especially if the mother is the earth pony)
- Unicorns with an Earth Pony parent are very weak in magical abilities but they’re very strong in muscle capacity, unlike full-blooded unicorns.
-Earth Ponies with an Unicorn parent are much faster even with their strong bodies, and are usually more meticulous about they work.
