I always thought that ponies were the highest creature, and dragons (although vicious) don’t attack ponies on their own.
Perhaps at one point, ponies sought to attack dragons with magic (say the Unicorns pre-Windigo winter) to gain land or some other resource. That would be my only guess. Griffons come to mind, but they don’t seem to be a threat to dragons.
Alternatively, perhaps there was a creature previously in Equestria that was made extinct by some event. Like goats or some such.
Which makes sense actually. Most herbivores (a.k.a prey species) have eyes on the sides of their heads to keep an eye out for predators, so less anthropomorphized ponies would probably stand next to each other rather then speaking face to face, as forward facing eyes are a trait primarily found in carni- and omnivores.
What’s weird is that adult dragons have eyes on the sides of their heads. What kind of predator do you think they evolved that against?
True, I recognize this “perspective” more from the Two Best Sisters videos than the show.
It looked weird to me at first, but it’s grown on me.
