It’s not clear what are the borders of Equestria as a country. I can tell that all the places inhabited by ponies are on the same continent though, because the other continents seem to be inhabited by other races: Bugbears, Griffons, Dragons, Kirins, Zebras, Cats etc.

Well, I think the Bleak Valley could be under the Storm of Clouds because according to the movie prequel chapter book, “The Stormy Road to Canterlot”, and the movie prequel comics, Tempest Rod on a caravan pulled by Rambler to Bleak Valley before meeting the Storm King in the Forgotten Hills which contains the Bleak Valley. And the other Klugetown seen in the beginning of the movie prequel comics is not in the Bleak Valley. And the Bleak Valley is not part of Abyssinia. Since the first half of the movie prequel comics took place southeast of Equestria while the second half and The Stormy Road to Canterlot took place south of Equestria.

That’s because prior to the events of the film and tv show, Capper and Chummer go to the Klugetown in the Bone Dry Desert that is south of Equestria and not the Klugetown in Abyssinia because the Storm King have already taken over and conquered the entire kingdom/continent of Abyssinia including its capital Panthera.

You were right. Don’t you know where Saddle Arabia was? Saddle Arabia is based on Saudi Arabia. And I think Trixie and Starlight go west towards Saddle Arabia. They would also load their caravan on a ship to Saddle Arabia.

But, according to the episode “Road to Friendship”, Somnambula should be on the way from Ponyville to Saddle Arabia.

Saddle Arabia is approximately above Abyssinia.

You are right. Somnambula was part of southern Equestria. Think back on the official map or watch “Daring Done?”

Seriously, Saddle Arabia was located northeast of Abyssinia not near Somnambula because you must think back on the map of the world. Abyssinia was also known as the Ethiopian Empire.

I think Somnambula should be a part of Southern Equestria, not Saddle Arabia.

Hmm. I wonder how that tangle of waterways next to Abyssinia works. Is it just a very complex river system, or saltwater straits, or what?

heh… it would figure the official equestrian map would draw equestria as being so much bigger than everywhere else.
 
that would also explain why twilight and co. tried to just walk across the bone dry desert unprepared, because it looked like it was about the same size as appleoosa on their map.

I love this map of Equestria. Lots of great details in the trees, mountains, water, and the font. Only gryphonstone looks a bit bare when compared to the dragon lands, and the Zebra lands could perhaps use a small town or unique landscape to fill up space. The pony lands also look a bit uninhabited without any roads or rail tracks, showing that it’s a well-connected and developed country.

It’s hard to reconcile the differences between the official map and the cutie map. Saddle Arabia doesn’t even exist on the cutie map and Griffonstone is only seen in one shot and never again after that.
 
That whole area according to the cutie map is filled with caves, presumably belonging to the diamond dogs. The cutie map took priority but additional locations from the official map were placed where possible

Not a oversight, there are two Klugetowns one in the comics near Abyssinia and one in Equestria. Lots of real-life locations share a name between the new and old world.

There are two Klugetowns labeled, one at Bone Dry Desert, and one in Bleak Valley.
