I assume those happened so unexpectedly, they didn’t have time to cast such spells, or anything.
Even Shining Armor had to struggle to cast a barrier spell, so it’s probably not an easy spell to cast.
DWK does a pretty good job explaining why they were being ‘snotty’ to Discord. Also, where were these sealing powers and such when they had to repel Chrysalis or stop Sunset Shimmer or hold back mere snowy conditions or hell, when the villain trio or Sombra came knocking on their doorstep?
In fairness, he acted like he didn’t know about the Tatzelwurm. The Tirek incident happened, to more-so cement his heel-face-turn, (and he payed for that when Tirek betrayed him, and Discord helped the Mane 6 afterwards, and acted genuinely so depressed, and so regretful, he looked quite shocked when Twilight showed mercy on him, and made Tirek release him) and looking back at the episode, some of the Mane 6 were a li’l snotty to him, (like AJ remarking, “An’ don’t come back!”) so I almost can’t blame him for being tempted by Tirek.
Not to mention, Fluttershy did kinda ignore him, and others were a li’l snotty to him too in the “Make New Friends but keep Discord,” so he’s not entirely at fault for losing his cool at the party.
Not saying he’s completely innocent, or anything, but all and all, he hasn’t killed anyone, or anything major honestly, and things work out regardless, and oftentimes he shows he’s genuinely sorry for when he screws up. (And it’s not like other characters haven’t been guilty of causing trouble too, “Lesson Zero” comes to mind.)
Characters like Cozy don’t even show remorse, or anything.
Actually, they have, they sealed away King Sombra, imprisoned Tirek, beat Discord, (back when he was bad) defeated the Tantabus, and Nightmare Moon counts, as well. It’s possible the Princess sisters fought off other villains too off-screen.

Yeah but seriously though. How many times has Discord gotten people in danger for stupid reasons ever since he was “reformed”? From having Twilight and Cadance fight a Tatzelwurm because he faked being sick to helping a centaur depower the world because said centaur promised him friendship and freedom to almost throwing a pony into an alternate dimension over not being the only one Fluttershy wants to be with to almost getting a student at Twilight’s friendship university killed twice because he couldn’t force his way into something he wasn’t welcome in to dooming the entire world because he felt Twilight could do with an impromptu final test of princesshood despite Celestia and Luna never once being capable of handling high tier threats ever.
Literally nothing she did in the finale could be seen as the right thing to do and she do exactly what she was doing
Not entirely true, Discord only did that once, and learned from his lessons actually, (like with Smooze incident, and befriended Mac & Spike, so he’s not that bad) his screw-up in the finale definitely was done to ensure he doesn’t try to do anything like this anymore. (Even as a means trying to help Twilight)
Honestly, trying to make one (or several) character out to be worse then he actually is, honestly isn’t going to get people on board the hashtag #SaveCozy or #SaveTheVillainousTrio bandwagon, so honestly I’m kinda tired of those kinda fans always demonizing characters like Discord and/or Starlight in order to make their prefered villainous characters seem less evil/destructive then they actually are, and as “better” candidates for reformation. (Which honestly, the show has kinda overdone with antagonists, and you can’t reform every villain.)
Pitting characters against each other never really works out honestly, it’s just going to make more people dislike Cozy, and I don’t want that, because I like her too. (But I accept she’s a villain.)

Because one screwed up once and let themselves out once before being petrified. The other got petrified twice, was given a chance at redemption, spent six years abusing everyone’s trust because he refuses to learn, and has stabbed everyone in the back at least twice.

No offense, but I still don’t get why some act like Cozy is a perfect “angel whom never did anything wrong,” while at the same time finding characters like Discord unforgivable, or even want them dead.
I mean, I can accept both characters are A-holes, (unintentional in Discord’s case) but I like ’em that way.
Nah, just give him a lethal injection of harmony and be done with it.
Just her though. And maybe consider throwing Discord in purgatory.
Cappy rules.
