Lol yes I remember that happening. Someone did get offended over Dashes appearance at the time and thought that she was picking on Lesbians. Regardless though, the show continued to be successful mainly because of the different approach that preceeded over the past generations. I agree with what you said about the show making it 9 seasons because I thought it would end after at least 6, but if a show continues to get strong support, it’ll keep going like it did here. Look at Dragon Ball Super; That show should have stopped after the GT saga. It had an interesting way of ending the entire series, but people wanted more of it and that still urks me that it continued, but in the end, that’s just me. I can’t stop the developers or fans from liking something with a strong passion and wanting to continue it and that goes for anything. Anyways I’ll stop right here so we don’t make a big deal about our opinions over the tomboy taming tag and the picture. People will act the way they act in many different flavors of personality as it shows who they are. For example I’m introverted, but will still communicate with those that say something even though I can’t hold a long conversation lol.
legion2709

I don’t know. So then people should not be offended by steriotypes, especially racial ones. Lauren struggled with stereotypes. When in 2010, one critic called Dasha a lesbian because of her appearance and character. Lauren came to the defense and said that such stereotypes are offensive, I then realized that this show will not grovel before anyone and try to please anyone. And you know, watching the 8-9 season, I sometimes think that it would be better if it ended on the 5-7 season, the fact that the team passed in the 8-9 season is terrible. This is purely my opinion, but I don’t like the last two seasons, there are three series that are good, and everything else made me cry

That’s fine if you think that, but you’re continuing to prove some of my points. It doesn’t matter how a characters personality is defined, they’re still free to choose how they want to do things. Stereotypes will exist whether we like it or not. It’s what ultimately makes each and every person unique and easy to define. If this show was centered around just the little girl aspect from past generations like giggling, playing, too much dress up and make up, going on very light-hearted adventures instead of actual dangerous adventures, humor, references, and the stereotypes then it’s guaranteed that it wouldn’t have made it 9 seasons. Lauren Faust wanted to change that and thank goodness that she stepped out of that area and on to something more different like Powerpuff girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends as examples of her past works. Although many watched it at it’s 2010 launch and it was reaching some success, it garnered it’s success mainly from the brony community because of the things I listed. The developers even stated that they never planned to make it 9 seasons with this show, but thanks to this community, it succeeded and succeeded extremely well with views, fanart, Bronycons, and videos. Also the artstyle of the show is both adorable and creative for many.

I still think it’s wrong. Characters often strayed from their archetypes, and were not particularly attached to them. This was evident in the first season, where Fluttershy knew as much about sewing as Rarity. I just think that this is wrong, we watch a show that destroys stereotypes, not only did it destroy the stereotypes that the show for girls is made only for girls. But at the same time, fans of this show themselves close the characters in the framework of stereotypes.
Dasha, though a Tomboy, is a pony who, like Rarity, likes to be the center of attention, to Shine in front of the public. Do you think she cares what she looks like? What if for the right occasion, she can dress up in a beautiful dress, not as luxurious as her friend could be a fashionista, but in her own style.

That’s understandable and I want to thank you for sharing your thoughts without making this into a big debate with insults and such, but many stereotypes exist and we can’t change that. The Mane six fit a specific stereotype very well. You got your nerd, hillbilly cowgirl, fashionista, athletic tomboy, shy and quiet introvert, and happy go lucky extrovert. Yes, Fluttershy for example still interacts with her friends as much as possible, but she still keeps to herself. Twilight is the nerdy book-reading scientist type, but still does many other things. Point is, no matter what many people with different personalities and stereotypes do that are different, it still doesn’t excuse who they are and act.

I know a lot of tomboys who play sports, look pretty rough but do not disdain to wear a dress for going out in high society. I don’t say that she has to wear a dress for seven days and twenty-four hours. But, I didn’t see Dash’s aversion to outfits in the show. I think this stereotype is pretty stupid, as well as the stereotype that all tomboys are lesbians and other remnants of the past.

Then you may never understand the stereotype. You realize that many tomboys will still wear dresses right? Reason, because they’re still girls. Rainbow putting on dresses and such in the show does not excuse her boyish personality whatsoever. Same with Applejack and others like Ember, Smolder, Spitfire, etc. She likes to be tough, awesome, strong, admired, and athletic. You won’t really find an episode where she willingly wants to act girly unless she pretends to be or unknowingly shows it. It completely defeats who she is if that were to happen. If you see a girl wanting to talk and act tough, and even get involved in physical activities, don’t expect a whole lot of girliness out of them. You may want to look at the Tomboy Taming Tag to really get an understanding out of this from other artist. Heck I even drew something on the same lines.
legion2709

Delirium. In the series, it was shown that both Dasha and AJ can get into dresses and be feminine. In the same fourth season, it was shown that AJ can wear a dress and be awesome, she just doesn’t need it.
Rainbow dash, despite his Tomboy character, lives in a rather stylish house, wears a robe and goes to a Spa salon. She likes to be the center of attention and therefore, like Rarity, will look after her appearance. And I even think she’ll wear a dress if the situation forces it.
As if the show destroys stereotypes, and then it turns out that if the character is a Tomboy, then everything female is not alien to her, and if the character is a woman, then all male things are alien to her.

They’re both tomboys. Ones a farmer and the other an athlete. They like doing athletic and physical things like guys do more than anything normal girls do which defines a tomboy. It’s natural for them to hate wearing dresses and makeup unless they have to for events and such. Rainbow even confirms in a way that she doesn’t like cute things in one of the episodes. I’ve actually seen and worked with many girls in my lifetime so far from little girls to adults that love being tough and wear less girly clothing and love getting into scraps.
legion2709

I never understood where this stereotype came from, that Dasha does not like to dress up in dresses? Unlike AJ she didn’t Express her dislike for dresses
