But yes, in actual 40K, there are no female Adeptus Astartes, but there is a branch of the Inquisition that is comprised entirely of fire loving nuns in power armor.
The male genes are actually necessary for the black carapace implant that allows space marines to use power armor to work, along with many other things. It’s impossible for female Astartes to exits. Their augmentations COULD NOT WORK.
I don’t know enough about warhammer to come up with crazy headcanons but I’MA DO IT ANYWAY:
What if there are female space marines but they’ve been modified to the point that it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference?
