Maybe Ponyville have enough attack from super villain, when the next one come, they attack Canterlot and not Ponnyville because Twilight is there.

I mean Twilight basically just formed a diplomatic alliance with 5 other kingdoms. Of course the castle would be bigger.

Not to mention, when you think about it, Canterlot was an old city that was primarily unicorns on top of a mountain surrounded by walls on all sides, where as Ponyville was an open, new town comprised of all the tribes in roughly equal numbers. It seems, from that perspective, to be a better new capital for a new Equestria focusing more on inclusion.

For what? the castle was built to house a good number of ponies and purpose built to be twilight’s literal seat of power, that was its only reason to exist.  
anything they could do in the castle they could do in there offices inside the school itself.

well yeah its to be expected canterlot castel would get biger with the princess of freindship running it, though im still salty that they shoehorned her into moving to canterlot  
that was kinda stupid and pointless, the castel of freindship was right there, gifted by harmony itself fit to do that job and fully expandable  
and the writers for the sake of a story beat right at the end abandoned it  
its not like moving the capital for the sake of a new ruller would be a ‘new’ idea either….it was the only thing about the end of the show i didnt like
