Sounds about right to me.

Probably at 4 right now. But on the more neutral-to-positive side of it. I’m not thrilled, I still fear that this is a bad idea, but I’m looking forward to see Twi earn her title - for the b’aww and d’aww factors at least.
 
Maybe I can take some closure seeing how it all happens when it happens.

You have a point. They’ve almost completely run out of ideas under the old dynamic, at least ones that would be acceptable for kids. They needed to shake up the status quo. You’re right; MLP getting stuck in stasis like the Simpsons would be a disaster.
 
We will see if making Twi a Princess - even if it has been foreshadowed since Season 1 - was the best way to go about shaking up that status quo.

I’m still worried about how this will work.

I am on step 5 right now, and have been since this whole thing started.

Meh, I’m 5. But I honestly don’t know where you can expand more with the Mane 6. Discord forgiven, Dash’s on her way to the Wonderbolts, and Twilight’s going to be a princess. Before you ask, I know Season 4 is confirmed, but maybe they will focus less on the Mane 6 and on other ponies like the CMC, and maybe introduce some new characters and time-skips.
 
 
The fact is, Status Quo is dead. Which I’m glad, I don’t want to see this turning into the Simpsons. But I honestly don’t see where you can expand the Mane 6 more.

I sort of bounce around between 2, 4, and 5. Anger at Hasbro for possibly upsetting a character dynamic that was already working fine, Depression at the possibility that the show is about to start an inexorable drop in quality (if Season 4 even happens). But I also Accept that whatever happens will happen and I really just need to wait for the episode.

I’ve been in 4 and 5 throughout the entire thing. Just bummed that Twilight’s changing and how that’ll affect my view on the group.

As for me, I never raged over such a thing. So I think I went straight to stages 5-6.

Well, the entire fandom is pretty much scattered through these stages. I Let’s see:  
-Stage 1 fans still think the transformation isn’t permanent.  
-Stage 2 fans are still raging at forums and writers’ e-mails and twitters.  
-Stage 3 fans are sending e-mails to Hasbro and writers(and even Faust herself) hoping that doing this will stop this alicorn thing.  
-Stage 4 fans are just posting things like “The world is doomed” or even leaving the fandom.  
-Stage 5 fans are already happy again and eagerly waiting for this episode.  
-And Stage 6 fans don’t give a crap about this entire drama. They just wanna watch the show.

Would have rather seen them phantom up another princess than this. Did they even try to fight against it?
