Considering the US political landscape only knows the dichotomy of left and right, I’d say it’s fairly accurate. Both camps frame themselves and their opponents within these two categories constantly, and you’re either one or the other. Which is funny because when viewed from outside (why hello there, I’m European), they’re essentially the same. In a sense I’d agree with you there, but whenever someone says “sheep”, I might think their political background is the complete opposite of mine and I’d likewise label them “reactionary” or somesuch.
 
And yes. I own all the PS2 versions of Higurashi.
