Hmm, upon second look, I should have viewed this at full size before I said anything, then I might have noticed that’s a seven, not a two above the drawing on the left. Now I feel a little silly.

The funny thing is the new version doesn’t look like an improvement at first. I’d say that’s owed to the newer version having off-putting crazy eyes compared to the 2012 having those big, friendly, and inviting blue eyes. That one says “okay, now this is going to hurt a little bit” where the 2019 one is saying “…bend over.” Then there’s the fact that the 2012 one is more finished, partially filled in and partly colored.

Then you start looking closer at the anatomy and you may notice that the 2012 version is a lot wonkier than the 2019 version. The nose and ears look like they’re skewed at a different angle then the rest of her head, the hands are just a step or two above being solid mitts with lines on them, not to mention the just off anatomy on the right forearm, and her legs just sort of attach to the bottom of the torso. All of that is fixed in the 2019 version, demonstrating a lot of progress by the artist in seven years time.
