Sunset Shimmer and Sci-Twi arrived to the pier. Sunset helped Pinkie with the documents and paperwork, handing them over to the police. Sci-Twi stayed behind, further solving the case and convincing the policewomen to let them free. Something along the lines of “What would be easier to report: arriving to the station with a paper reporting a case of mistaken identity and a terrible confusion or… arriving to the police station with 6 WET cosplayers and still reporting a case of mistaken identity and a terrible confusion…?” Twilight kept talking and making sense (or boring the cops to death).Meanwhile, Sunset returned to the edge of the pier and greeted Pinkie. She sat down on the edge, at a good 3 feet away from her pink-skinned friend, letting her legs hang freely. She took a deep breath of the warm ocean air and looked at Pinkie. Sunset tried to put on her “mean face” but couldn’t. The situation was complicated, Rainbow Dash was on the loose, nowhere to be found, and yet… Pinkie had this ability of defusing people’s rants and anger, most of the time.
Sunset asked: “Care to explain, Pinkie, exactly what happened?”/a full recap later/“Aaand that’s how we got here” Pinkie concluded, she grabbed her tail, pulled it up and hugged it, making a rocking motion. Sunset felt that she should have been angrier, shout at Pinkie because of her antics even, but the situation entertained her. There was not a monster on the loose, or a storm that menaced ships or a reality-bending being about to destroy a significant portion of life. In fact, this “sitch” felt fairly mild, at least by comparison to what they have faced through the years. Still, there was a lot of work to be done, if they were to stop the contagion of the mermaidifying curse.Sunset was lost in her train of thought, when she snapped back into reality, as she noticed that Pinkie Pie was smiling, staring at her in a funny way, specifically at her legs.“Ah, ah, ah, Pinkie. Social distance, remember” Sunset said
“Awww, but your tail would be so beautiful! I wonder if it would be orange or red!” answered Pinkie, giggling a bit.
“Pinkie promise, that you will not touch anypon… anybody again while we figure this all out.”
“Aaaalright… I Pinkie promise.”Applejack, a few meters away, rolled her eyes and then found herself smiling.
Huh.
Yeah, the panel’s content is uneventful in case you didn’t catch what I meant. Nothing is going on in the story, but we finally see the character most of us have been waiting for in this setting, especially after we heard from her so much, clearly a key component in gathering info and working toward a solution, but right now she’s just there to pay catch up.
Pinkie seems to be in far more of these than everyone else, Fluttershy the least to this point from the recurring characters. Her sole act is to turn herself into a mermaid and get rescued from her own mistake. Pinkie hasn’t done much to affect the external events after turning RD, but her own personal struggles are a major thing, namely her self restraint issues.
AJ, mentioned here, seems to be well ahead of all of the others in keeping her hands (and fins) to herself, even when Fluttershy isn’t, and it was her in that case.
Rainbow Dash is the only one to have done this twice, and in both cases she grabbed the offending girl not in the know by her ankles and dragged her into the ocean, taking the time to admire her own handiwork.
I think a group of volunteers should be brought in. Male, female, clothed, scantily clad, all to see how much or little it takes. If a single hair is enough, or if rubbing someone’s clothes while they are on is enough, or if direct contact is even needed, such as making contact with saliva. And closely monitor the effects on constant video surveillance, the results jotted down in notebook. And don’t forget the time, like what hour of the day they began with each one. There’s not many in their immediate group left untainted to try it with, so they need outside assistance. Sunny shouldn’t be among them; she should be the one observing everything.
Twilight should try to find the portal and pass through it, or at least put a limb in it to see what happens, come back if it works and find out what happened to it. I presume the book is still there to communicate with Starlight so she should be able to communicate with somepony on the Equestrian side who hasn’t been touched by its magic in recent date. Piece together what was done with it if any records were made of the alterations and undo them if it can be done.
