Man, I’ve been wanting to make a 3d pony model for so long. How long? Nine years.

Storytime!
Back in 2011 when I was still unsure what to think about this new “my little pony” hype, I saw how a lot of artists started to make fanart of it. As a lover of any kind of digital art, I began to dig around and stumbled over full’s 3D models www.deviantart.com/kp-shadowsq…
I was impressed by the skill that was needed to get something like this done and thought “man, would be cool if I could make stuff like this someday”, but I neither was good at drawing nor had any 3d skills at that time.
Years passed, I enrolled in an art college (which also does 3D) but I still couldn’t pull it off. There have been a couple of attempts from time to time, but getting stylized characters to work well in 3D is an incredibly hard task (not even Hasbro manages get that right). I ditched the idea for a long time and focused on drawing instead. I never really gave up on 3D Modeling though, but I felt it to be a long and tedious process so I didn’t focus hard on it either (also, I couldn’t decide wether to go for modeling, rigging, or animation at that time).
In 2019 though, I found a new job where I started to work on 3D models almost every day, which gave me a HUGE boost skillwise, bringing back to me that old idea I had in my head for such a long time. And well, after some more tries, here it is full

Before you ask: I don’t know if there’s going to be a rigged/animated version of this and how much I’m going to do ponies 3d-wise. It’s just an idea I had to get out of my system for a long time and rigging/animating takes a huge amount of time and work!

I’m not really a fan of the MLP Source Filmmaker-models, they look crude and are overused (besides of them having this really weird lipstick). Though I’d like to give a shoutout to three artists that I think have nailed a way to create tiny 3d horses (and stylized models in general)
