Surprisingly, this is actually a preview for the surprise review. When I initially sketched the cover for the Season 1 review, my plan was to draw Pinkie Pie parodying Pennywise from It, but finding out Andy Price already slipped in a funny Pennywise reference in the IDW books stopped me. So, what’d I go with instead? In 2017 when I first released the Season 1 review, Marvel had just cancelled a new comic series I had really enjoyed. The series focused on a perky, lovable comic book fan named Gwen Poole who fell into the Marvel Universe and tried making a new for herself there under the alias Gwenpool. Starting out as a mash between Spider-Gwen and Deadpool, Gwenpool became her own character beloved by dozens of comic-book fans like me, all of us who were sad to see her book cancelled by a company who didn’t understand her. Given her quirky attitude and natural talent for demolishing the fourth wall, I thought it’d be fun to draw Pinkie Pie as Gwenpool. Thus, Pinkiepool was born! Not to mention in the original review I picked Party of One as my favorite episode, so drawing Pinkie as Gwenpool came with a built-in pun: Pinkiepool Party of One! Enjoy, and keep checking back in for more sneak peeks!
