This is why I question people who seen so certain that they know all the details surrounding what we call “alicorns.” The show sure as shit hasn’t provided much information, and I consider any source outside the show, be it word-of-Faust or word-of-whomever to be non-canon.
 
Also, there is no Mary Sues on the show. People keep using that term, but I do not think it means what they think it means.

Damnit! The next episode isn’t even out yet and they still get me hyped. I have another week of hell (school) to go through. Don’t make me more tensed than I already am. ;_;

What if she uses the wings to hug ponies, and she saves Equestria through the use of wing hugs?

Bring it on. I want to see where those new wings of hers are going to take us.

The way I see this alicorn stuff, the more picky fans had their minds made early into season 1 what the definition of ‘alicorn’ as some kind of god like pony with supernatural parents and thede were only Two.  
How I understand the staffs canon (can always be wrong about this stuff though) they never even used the word alicorn to describe Princess Celestia or Luna. And by Laurens own design methodology she never limits the show to absolute specifics, that way she can change things as are needed. I think ‘winged unicorn’ is more canonical, but who am I to judge? I just want to enjoy the pony show for what it is, a nice pony show!

There’s a few reasons why I’m not fond of alicorn Princess Twilight, but it’s not going to ruin the show for me or anything. And as James points out, it does open the doors for some interesting stories.
 
Still can’t help worrying what else Hasbro might decide to change in the name of merchandisability, though…

Honestly, I biggest concern about alicorn twilight is that is message of the episode is going to be messed up.
 
If this episode is going where I think it’s going, it’s going to send a “You want to be special? You’re going to have to change” kind of message. While I don’t think Hasbro or the writers intend for that to be the message of the episode, it’s still going to show.
 
Plus, For me, Twilight creating new magic and spells is a better destiny for the story and character development than becoming a princess.

I still don´t get why people are so hung up about the wings. They´re just wings, stuff that Twi could have conjured upon herself anyway since she knows the spell for it.  
That´s it.
 
Or the title. The studio made it clear that Twi won´t just disappear from the show cause she got a new title. Nor will she have no more time for her friends.  
It pretty much is still the same show just now that one Unicorn got wings and a title as extra.  
And that stuff will make great work for future episodes. Cause now Twi and friends can be send into forgein lands. Before they were only “Equestria hot stuff”, now with Twi´s title they´re “representives of Equestria” to go out in the world and show us other cultures. I expect a gryffion kingdom episode in the next season.
 
What more? Oh yeah, the whole stuff about Twi´s friends being less worth than her and that they can´t be friends anymore.  
Whenever i hear that i just want to rage cause what kind of stupid friendship concept is that? If i would have no job, no wife, no house or car on my own and my friend does have all that stuff and gets a doctortitle (cause that is Twi getting wings, her end as a “student” and beginng as a “princess”. Who said you can´t study to become a princess/it´s only something you get through birthright? Blue Blood doesn´t got any wings as far as i recall it and he´s a prince and of Celestia´s bloodline); should i go to his house and yell at him that we´re no longer friends despite 12 years of friendship and that he can go to hell for all i care? What kinda friend would i be?
 
Neither Twi nor her friends will treat each other any differently after the final. Sure Rarity will have her fasion freak-out about Twi´s princess dress, but that´s pretty much it. XD

I’m still clinging on to hope that twilight only changes to an alicorn because she has swiched cutiemarks and destinies with cadance and must act as princess to calm down the crystal ponies that are now panicking and angry over the their new marks.

With a larger fandom, there will always be those few who will choose to remain inconsolable. For them, the fandom/show is “ruined forever”, never mind that we’ve had people saying that before the first season was even over. It’s natural for large fandoms to split into factions.
 
I’m not saying it’s okay to dismiss anyone’s opinion based on that fact alone. I’m saying that it’s a normal thing to be expected. :)
 
Musing on this further: I have the original, unedited Star Wars episodes 4-6 on VHS. I think episodes 1-3, and the “updates” to 4-6 are complete garbage. It doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of Star Wars. Nope. Still a fan! I’m hoping episode 7 will be awesome, hope against hope. Some friends of mine liked episodes 1-3; we just agree to disagree.
