meh, doc was ok, but i still enjoyed sabersparks more. He went into the show itself more, even past generations. I also really enjoyed the brony music documentary too. Both were free too! Not saying the group involved with this only care about money..but free is always better

Or maybe there weren’t that many sales because people realized the doc is completely masturbatory.

People are just upset, probably with reasons, that they go an a rant about this being the fault of bronies natural tendency to piracy. We’re not perfect, but we’re not the worst and this doc was made to said that we are good or nomal in the first place so it go against its own purpose.
 
And of course, the paying factor prevent almost any impact outside the fandom unless they manage to get some t.v. channel to pass it, but I doubt I could happens, which was the objective of this at start so there another group of people who feel spoiled by this choice. They probably think bronies will buy it to show their family about the show but some wanted a more ¨at large¨ diffusion for the whole internet that doesn’t have them in high esteem.

They also ignored that they didn’t intend to make any money themselves on this. They made very little, and the crew was not paid until after the documentary was already done. The reason why they were so adamantly against piracy is that it disqualified them from entering it into film festivals.
 
They said they want to make a documentary “without bias.” However, three things:
 

Oi. It’s going to DVD, iTunes, and Amazon, just not with the sheer amount that they were going to put into it. Otherwise, it’s complete but a lot of stuff is being taken out.

@itsthinking, Are you serious? /mlp/ are seriously hating on John and Tara for the simple fact that they need money to make this documentary in the first place? They really need to learn about the concept of money.

But not Lauren Faust, of course. They seem to think she was somehow contracted into it against her will. She actually wanted to make it and was proud.
