New Reign: Rising Dusk and Dawn follows the adventure of two sisters; Princesses Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle, hundreds of years after the initial reign of the first two sisters; Princesses Celestia and Luna. As the banishment of the ancient Nightmare Moon came close to an end, the now renowned Empress Celestia strived to be the best mother she could be to her daughters, both different in so many ways. She must prepare them for Nightmare Moon’s eventual escape and guide them to the road of friendship and family as the girls endured challanges of their own. The sisterhood bond was what tore Celestia and Luna apart, but it will be enough to keep Sunset and Twilight together?
 
 
Sunset Shimmer  
Sunset Shimmer is the first born, elder daughter of Empress Celestia. She is boisterous, ambitious and eager to please. Like her mother and sister, she is extremely skilled in magic, with a high level of intelligence that is constantly challenged by her more studious twin sister. The thing Sunset finds more enjoyable than books and studying is to engage in art. This includes painting, drawing, sculpting, scrap-booking, carving and crafting. Half the paintings hung in the Canterlot Castle walls are hoof-painted by her. She is socially amiable, and often found herself liked immediately during most of her encounters - though she had never been sure if this was due to her royal status or herself an an individual. While insecure of her image and anxious over what the future may hold, Sunset loves her royal life. Occasionally, she coud be seen sneaking around the castle hallways, planting pranks here and there to trick the ever so serious guards or get revenge out of the nannies that dared make her clean up the art supplies she’d left lying around.
 
She is the heir to the sun and guardian of the day.
 
 
Twilight Sparkle  
Twilight Sparkle is the second born, youngest daughter of Empress Celestia. She is much more soft-spoken in comparison to her sister, and is very asocial. She prefers to keep to the shadows and keep from being the center of attention, very unlike her sister and mother. This is not due to her being shy however, but more due to her fear of not being able to live up to others’ expectations and due to her humble personality. She is very studious, the perfect image of a nerd and a bookworm. She isn’t as ambitious as Sunset; in fact, she studies for the same reason Sunset does art. She studies because she loves learning. She’d even go as far as organize and reorganize all books she’d read from the most enjoyable to the least interesting, a documentation simply for her to go back to whenever she pleases. Twilight cares little for her appearance, and styles her mane for comfort rather than style. Her bangs, unlike Sunset’s, ends right above her eyes so as to not get in the way of her reading. She has her mother’s eyes.
 
She is the heir to the moon and guardian of the night.
