You mean this thread's 'survey'?

(I'm admittedly unsure where I found out about it first) 10 people does not a proper census make.

The thing you aren't factoring in is: The person who posted in the thread/forum/blog/journal, where did _*they_* hear about it? (Granted, this also works on the flip-side. Someone from 4chan could have heard it from elsewhere.)

Going back to address this statement: _*"That is… completely not the point that all the 4chan 1st howlers have been making, which is "4chan invented the FIM fandom out of nothing all on its own", which is complete and utter horseshit."_
_

*
"memeing— about the show in late 2010 and early 2011 completely independent of anything happening on 4chan. The idea that 4chan was the single solitary starting point of the fandom and sole source of its propagation"_
*
No one made the claim that it was the "patient zero" of the fandom. This is a claim you're inventing through thin air to attempt to justify non-involvement from 4chan. However, it very likely was the biggest contributor to its booming popularity. On top of this, no one is exactly going to state where they came from on 4chan, just like people outside of the site aren't inclined to say "I saw this on 4chan". And for an on-site images to point out a date for some of the earliest posts: >>1558903 >>1505064 >>83805 (premiere)

Statistics on amount of posts on the boards: >>1025075

If you read 'birthplace' as 'the first place of primary significance that catapulted the popularity of the show' then it is.[/bq]

It was pretty much universally regarded as THE origin by the MLP:FiM fandom at large.[/bq]
To make it **100%** crystal clear what the focus even is, these statements are what I'm referring to. Funny how you accuse others of using a straw man, while you do it yourself.
Reason: also, nice ad hominem again bro.
