Or perhaps you want a world where only twenty or so ponies exist and that’s it?

The borders between “fanwork” and “official” continue to grow weaker :D
 
Summer Mane is DEFINITELY an OC.

I’ve googled about tha artist and his works about superheroes look quite good.  
Maybe ponies are just not his thing.

Well, at least the color pallette is show-accurate…

I have seen fanart with much more detailed or engaging artwork, yes, but thanks in part to the Internet medium, said fan comics often do not deal with critical issues such as layout. The panels here look awkward at points, but they flow pretty well. I like, for example, how we are treated a closeup of the archivist ominously staring down directly at Twilight’s funny grin in the adjacent unbordered panel. Also, unless Zahler is also the writer, the Royal Archive derp is not necessarily his fault, since comics in the industry are generally done with a formally organized team of writers, artists, editors, and letterers.
 
I do otherwise agree the art here is generally mediocre and even awkward at points, possibly due to a rushed schedule since this was announced rather quickly in response to the comic’s popularity. I wanted to dig up more on Zahler, but there is little out there other than a comic I’ve never seen before (Love and Capes). In fact, searching for his name turns up Derpibooru on the first page of Google for me.

The models look really off.

Let’s just hopethe other Micros and the second arc of the main comic will be better.
 
Issue 2 (Rainbow) has art by Tony Fleecs, and his covers have been nice so far. The second arc of the main is done by Mebberson, so not worried about that one at all.

I really like it how they show the area around canterlot a bit more.  
I was always wondering if the castle and the city of canterlot are two seperated things.

Doesn’t look too bad.  
And the story sounds definetally intesting.

That been said, the comics that were printed for the other generations were at most appalling, so this one looks quite good in comparison…

This Zahler’s art looks quite poor for a comic, expecially when compared to an ace like Andy Price.

Look at that little yellow box. That little building really is supposed to be the Royal Archive.

I think you misunderstand. Twilight was supposedly sent to help Summer Mane, not take over running the archives.

I have rethink my pre-order for this one.

Personally, I think this is a major letdown comapred to the main comic. I’ve seen fan comics with art that’s a lot better than this.
 
And the royal archives being just a regular old house? They’re confirmed to be inside of the castle in the show!
 
No homework done, bad art…luckily Zahler is only doing 1 issue.

The test is if she could make friends with Summer Mane?
