I’ll be the first to say this one is kinda rough and probably could’ve been better. My primary struggle with duo pics is sizing, due to the limited space. My tendency is to draw figures too large to leave room for multiple characters to be fairly visible, so I often have to scale them down, then back up a bit, until I get a proper size that I’m comfortable with. Add my obnoxiously unsteady hands into the mix, and it’s a bit harder to get smooth, clean lines at a smaller scale, hence some of the sloppier lines here, among other issues. The sizing concerns can also lead to my bad habit of making a figure relatively bigger or smaller than I would otherwise. Luckily in this case, there is obviously meant to be a size discrepancy, so it wasn’t too much of an issue, haha!
That being said, Soarin was probably the trickiest of the two because I have less experience with drawing male bodies (and it shows). I didn’t want to make him too scrawny since he’s still an experienced Wonderbolt and I think deserves a pretty cut physique to match; he shouldn’t be a twig, just a twig compared to Dash. I do feel like I might have made him just a smidgen skinnier than was intended, but it’s certainly close. Overall, I quite like the size difference between them.
I really dig “big girl, small guy” dynamics and I’ve always had a soft spot for Clippercrash; putting both together for this is a pretty awesome way to get a feel for drawing pairs. It’s a sort of idea I’ve had for quite a while, so it’s great to actually put it to paper for once, even if it’s rough. Life’s been a beach as of late, so this has helped my mood a bit.
As always, thanks for checking it out and feedback is always welcome!
Yes that’s good, let the inspiration flow through you =)

Dang, ya’ll are giving me ideas… ;)
No prob, always happy to help :)
I’m sure soarin wouldn’t mind being used as her morning warmup weight.
Soarin’: “Dosn’t matter, had Snu-Snu!” ;)
Hopefully Dash knows her own strength enough to go easy on him. But if not, something tells me that’s a price he’s willing to pay. Though it is tricky to fly in a full body cast. XD
Thanks, I’m glad you think so!
@angelz13
At this point, I might just make it my usual interpretation of it. Lol Happy to welcome you aboard!

You just about summed up the issue, haha! Hm, I never actually thought to approach it as “tree vs. hourglass”, but that’s a real easy way to see it. I think all I ended up giving much focus to was the waist being less pronounced and didn’t key in on the upper torso/back area and hips quite as much. Helpful advice as always, appreciate it.
Yeah, I might want to do a male figure or two in isolation so I can get a better feel for how to shape it, and in Soarin’s case, what exact look I prefer for him. All things considered, I got lucky he ended up pretty darn close. XD Thanks a lot and I’m glad you like it!

It does open opportunities for some rather fun antics, haha! Just imagine the pressure he’d be under keeping it together during an actual show. * . *
Looks pretty good! I hear ya on the male body differences. You work with the other mostly and then switching over can be a bit of a challenge, especially when muscles are involved. The way I like to think of it on a basic level is a tree vs and hourglass. The men will have thicker waists, less curve and hips, and only spread outward as you go up the body, while women have smaller waists that are less wide than the hips, and curve inward at the waist before you get to the back spread. I’ve done a few male attempts with my editing and I’ve only really gotten it to look right on a forward facing body, anything angled has yet to turn out well.
I typically like to depict Soarin as pretty beefy myself but I can see where you hit a snag here with space restrictions and keeping with the theme of the image. Also the hand on dash’s front looks pretty good! The faces and expressions are very good too. Keep up the good work :)

I’d be more then willing to swap partners with him though =)
But Rainbow looks really great, so wonderful muscular!
