Recent events have made this VERY relevant.

This is how all fandoms go, they start out united strong and bold…  
…then they start splitting apart at the seams, endless fractures-upon-fractures of the fandom as it degreds into an endless whinefest.

Regarding this entire alicorn business, this is why I think that a celestia episode is needed: So the show can explain to us what exactly an alicorn is

This show has no time for, and hates having to, explain itself.

Uh, didn’t we already go through this around the same time last year? Granted, we had something to be genuinely upset over: The ending to Mass Effect 3. Still, I didn’t (and still don’t) see what the fuss over Cadance was.
 
So what that she was another alicorn? The show hasn’t said shit all regarding alicorns, so why should I get upset over something that I can’t fully understand?
 
The same goes for alicorn twilight. The show still hasn’t told us shit about alicorns, thus there is nothing to get upset over…except maybe some character dynamic changes…possibly…maybe
