I think it makes sense. Luz’s hreatest dream is to do magic, so if she went to Equestria and became a pony for whatever reason that sort of thing happens, she would be a unicorn so she can do magic without using glyphs. I also think that Willow, as a user of plant magic, would be an earth pony.
