Wut
Again, his abusive and dangerous actions speek otherwise.
Being a spirit of chaos doesn’t force him to endanger others as a way of helping.
No, he did not swear that and again, he saw her perform well under pressure in the celebration.
Risking his life in a situation where it was already in danger. Also less heroic because the whole thing was largely his fault.
It makes him a hypocrit. Everything that led up to that point is what makes him evil.
The punishment was Discord’s idea.
Then he should have petrified himself as well because he clearily proved that he is dangerous to those around him.
Kinda is. It was one of the most vile and disgusting acts committed by someone in the series.
What agenda? I only speak the truth. What Discord did was evil and the trio deserve the same second chance(’s) that he got.
What?
He is far from good and its not neccesarely a bias. When Celestia announced his reformation, I was actually quite excited. I liked Discord’s character and felt that reforming him would be a good thing. Then, he kept doing horrible things and my confidence in him wavered with the last straw being what he did to the trio, whom just as much deserved a second chance as he did back in the day. Doubly so as Starlight and his examples were present.
his actions in season 9 doesn’t say hes evil, because his actions are the result of being misguided and an attempt of being a good friend. He has been established to have a different way of helping as a spirit of chaos. Discord only went through with his plan because he saw it as a something that would help twilight in the end and when it was made clear to him how badly he messed up he swore from the bottom of his heart to make up for it, risking his own life to help get the ponies free and can be seen joining the fight against the 3 villains without any powers (when he didn’t need to do that as he was already forgiven) being only able to throw rocks but still putting himself in danger so his friends can escape and save eq. Him turning the villains to stone doesn’t make him evil because Celestia and Luna had already decided to punish them and discord helped them make sure the trio would never be a threat to anypony ever again. How ever u feel about his stunt as grogar isn’t the point at the end of the day his intentions are made very clear from the story if u don’t try to push your own agenda because you dislike a characters actions enough to Ron the death eater him which is when a Fandom treats a morally good/neutral character in a work as evil or a jerk due to biases.
He saw her perform very well under pressure in the Summer Sun Celebration.
Some would argue that violating the mind is just as bad or worse.
His actions say otherwise. Besides, the only reason he’s “not evil” is because he got lucky via Celestia and Fluttershy.
Well for one discord didn’t know the lesson was already learned he thought twilight still wasn’t truly ready. Brainwashing isn’t the same as attempted murder and discord is no longer evil hes a anti hero only wanting to help twilight and not thinking things through we can say unscrupulous but hes not evil https://derpibooru.org/images/2499726#
She said herself in Canterlot Wedding that its her duty to feed the changelings.
Yea, I’m sure stealing cutie marks was intentional. And she was forgiven instantly so I reiterate that its only fair that the trio should have gotten second chances as well.
He broke them out of prison/exile to make them do something evil and used threats and false promises to make them work for him. I’m sorry, but thats plain evil, no matter who he does it to. By that logic, Tirek shouldn’t feel remorse for manipulating him as he was clearily an unrepentent villain at that point.
Starlight never showed remorse for stealing cutie marks. Wasn’t punished. Discord was released despite showing no remorse. Twilight attempted to get through to Tempest despite her feeling no remorse until the very end.
He went out of his way to hurt people who had already been (in some cases, overly cruelly) punished with the intention of potentially making their punishments worse all to teach a lesson that was already learned. That is evil.
He tried to manipulate Fluttershy, later sided with Tirek then almost banished a pony then endangoured students and then manipulated others as Grogar. Such a fast learner… The only reason he got that far is because he kept getting second chances and help. The trio never got that. I’m willing to bet that if the ponies were as forgiving and persistant with them as they were with Discord, they would have reformed faster then he did.
Actually, he did. He just pretended that he didn’t. And again, the only reason he got that far was because he was given the chances and help to get there. There was never an attempt to reform Tirek in Tartarus, even after he helped the Main 6 and Spike escape, Cozy was immedietly given up on as soon as she was revealed and Chrysalis was only given a token effort (which she almost accepted).
Theres a difference between being assertive and constantly doing horrible and selfish things after you’ve been given multiple second chances.
One can argue that brainwashing someone and changing their personality is almost like killing them. Also, Tirek never killed anyone despite having multiple opportunities to do so to important enemies. Cozy only attacked with potentially lethal force when she was fighting powerful opponents with her new alicorn powers and was oddly merciful with the guards beforehand. Chrysalis only went for captures despite having the opportunity to kill Celestia and the Main 6 in Canterlot Wedding. So no, their limits weren’t any different then Discord’s used to be.
Chrysalis only cares about keeping the changelings around so she can gain power and control, she’s not this loving mother fans make her out to be. With Starlight the damage she caused wasn’t intentional even though she still probably shouldn’t have been instantly forgiven, whether he used to be like them or not discord doesn’t need remorse for manipulating the trio as there unrepentant villains who have tried to harm his friends. Every time a villain doesn’t show remorse they are always punished this is no different. Whether discord should have went through his plan or not it was a misguided effort to help his friend in his chaotic way and not something that should be treated as evil. No he doesn’t keep doing it over and over again, he is learning in his episodes lessons, he learns to ask to be included instead of letting his emotions get the best of him because he ask in Best Gift Ever and Summer Sun Celebration to be involved. He didn’t understand love at first but in a future episode he is excited to hear about big mac getting married. He didn’t wanna spend time with big mac or spike but helps big mac get back to together with sugar belle and attempts to help him in big mac question and is excited to play o&o with spike..he has changed alot but u don’t change completely in a day especially when u technically completed your character arc of being completely reformed in s7 but almost died doing so. Saying Discord keeps doing the same thing over and over is like saying Fluttershy always needs to learn to be assertive in earlier seasons. Also its not really hypocritical it can be seen as the characters having limits to offers of redemption as Discord for all his faults has never intentionally tried to kill them multiple times.
But she wasn’t. And that fact makes the trio’s treatment all the more unfair.
Again, where was that remorse when he was released and where was that remorse for manipulating the trio like that?
Refer back to my first point.
Yet he keeps doing it over and over again. Also, why do you think he even got that far? It’s because he got a second chance and plenty of help. Something the trio never got.
He tried to build something that was already built and he used some truly dispicable tactics to achieve it. And his life was already in danger at that point so he really had no other choice.
By that logic Discord had a chance to change during his reign and immedietly after he was released. Instead, he tormented Fluttershy for a while before beginning the road to redemption and constantly regressed along the way. Tirek was left to rot in a cage for thousends of years without a lick of attempt to reform him.
He was never given a chance in Frenemies. None of them were.
Friendship school does not equel reformation. Learning words and history does not mean you’ll take them to heart. Discord had Fluttershy personally reforming him and again, he kept regressing. The difference is that he kept getting forgiven while the literal child was immedietly given up on. And no, Twilight didn’t “tell her the truth about friendship”. She just told her she was wrong and didn’t explain why.
How could she shun friendship that was never offered to her?
She was literally trying to feed them. She explaines so in Canterlot Wedding.
The hoof that was offered to her in a stressfull, panicky moment right after her defeat. I see that as no worse then Discord mocking the ponies for trying to reform him or Starlight rejecting Twilight multiple times.
Again, where was the friendship that was offered to her? In what way did that count as a second chance like what Discord got? And Discord also proved that he was willing to come back with no remorse when he escaped and did the same horrible things he did a thousend years ago.
It’s hypocritical that the characters only give second chances to certain individuals while not even attempting to reform others who are no less evil then the characters they gave second chances to used to be.
honestly I do feel like starlight should have been initially punished, considering that they were pissed at discord for accidently dooming everything even after he apologized and felt remorse for it, when starlight was trying to get revenge on twilight and she accidentally doomed everything she was instantly forgiven and got to work under twilight as his student. Discord has suffered some level of karma for his actions throughout the series not all the time but most of the time he is constantly forgiven because he always grows and feels sorry for it, manipulating/threatening 4 evil villains in a intent to build twilight’s confidence was when he had his heart in the right place and was only forgiven because he put his life in danger to get them free. Tirek had a chance with scorpan and he could have been friends with discord but he betrayed him, he had a chance in frenemies but shunned it no remorse. Cozy glow was at a literal school of friendship and unlike discord had the praise and love of everyone there and still betrayed everypony with no remorse and told twilight to basically shut up when tryna to tell her the truth about friendship, shunned friendship again in frenemies. Dont even get me started on crysalsis, shes the one who fans want reformed so much? She starved her subjects despite knowing they can use love, She straight up slapped starlights hoove, and was the first one to reject friendship in frenemies and made it known they will always come back no remorse. Its realistic and nice to know the characters have limits to their second chances.
Where was that heart when he plunged Equestria into a state of chaos twice (three if you coun’t Starlight’s time travel), sided with Tirek, almost banished an innocent pony, endangoured students and manipulated/threatened four people, including a child into working for him with the intent to make them fail?
Like how Discord showed enough remorse for Celestia to let him out? Or how he was so remorseful when he was mocking the ponies for trying to reform him?
What else were they supposed to show? They weren’t given the chance or help to show anything else. If you recall, Starlight wasn’t sorry after her first defeat and it took multiple attempts from Twilight to get through to her in the second. By your logic, she should have been punished twice over.
Yea, one evil villain got released, given a second chance and the full help and support from the pony who represents kindness without asking for it or feeling remoresfull beforehand. Even after that he still did horrible things and was consistantly forgiven for it. Meanwhile those three were not given a second chance nor any sort of help and support to reform.
“i don’t think your helping your case here” looks here the thing im not even trying to triumph in a argument or something, Yes Discord is a jerk but he ultimately has his heart in the right place at the end of the day, the trio didn’t. I swear we know if the trio would have had one apology one sign of guilt/remorse and the good guys would have seen it, they would have been given a chance absolutely no punishment like starlight but all they showed was that they wanted to kill them. Its really that simple with what happened in mlp.
He only showed signs of remorse when Fluttershy was drained. He was willing and happy to let thousends of other ponies get drained.
Discord returned. Starlight returned. They were both rehabilitated despite the things they did. You can’t expect them to reform without proper help.
I don’t think your helping your case with this.
Yes, I’m sure he wished to do good when he plunged Equestria into a state of chaos, helped Tirek and endangoured a bunch of teenagers.
True, besides Tirek and the finale his deeds in those episodes are less severe then the trio’s. You know what’s also true? Those were after he got a second chance from Celestia, bonded with Fluttershy and was supposed to be reformed at that point.
So it was ok to let Discord out and give him a chance to use his powers for evil again? At least the trio don’t have the kind of power he has, thus making it objectively safer to try and reform them. Heck, Cozy’s just a powerless kid.
No worse then what Discord did back in his villain days. He was remembered as having a heart as cold as stone for a reason.
Still doesn’t change the fact that he knowingly endangoured ponies, sent a living being to his death, threatened three others with said dead to work for him with the full intention of screwing them over.
He had signs of remorse before being betrayed by Tirek if u go back and look at the episode such as when shining armor gets drained of magic and when the mane 6 were getting drained he looked away. Chrysalis stated that they will always return and neither tirek or cozy denied it, which is why they were turned to stone in the first place. Listen Discord is far from a saint he is heavily flawed, basically to describe him is that he will save the kitten from the tree but he would probably have been the one to accidentally have put the kitten there in the first place or laugh at the kitten for its predicament for 30 mins first. He makes a lot of mistakes but Discord is a misguided anti-hero he truly does wish to do good and the characters see that which is why as frustrating as he is, they give him so many chances. All of Discords wrongs in his centric episodes are still less severe than trying to doom a kingdom and kill off the main characters and he will always learn something in the end. The villains whether they had a chance at redemption or not the truth is, its ok not to give them another chance to possible doom the kingdom again for their evil intentions, there intended deeds are worse, I say intended because we know discord didn’t mean for everything to go to shit he thought he had everything under control as a “safety net.”
After he was given a second chance and he only felt remorse right at the end. Even then it took Tirek betraying him to finally switch back. The difference between him and the three is that he was given a second chance prior and all the help he needed from Fluttershy. The trio never had that luxury. I doupt Discord would have gotten that far without all his chances and help.
This was after Tirek. While I could understand his reasoning, the fact that he was still willing to do such a thing speaks volumes about him. And by that logic, I could just say that Cozy was never gonna hurt the students and Starlight, she was just sending them to another dimention.
It still happened and it was still far after his “reformation”. If he deserves to still be forgiven for acting like that after all thats happened to and around him, then the trio should have been rehabilitated as well.
What about actually taking over the kingdom and reigning for a while in a state of chaos? What about brainwashing? What about sending a pony to die to make an example of three others? What about willingly helping the magic draining centaur drain most ponies? What about almost banishing an innocent pony to another dimention? What about endangouring a bunch of teenagers with dangerous creatures? Discord did horrible things on par with the trio before he was given a second chance and he continued to do bad things afterwards. Again, how do you know that the trio can’t reform if they were never given the same chance Discord got? It’s not exactly fair to keep forgiving him for everything.
And the trio’s did? As far as I know, they only actually tried to kill those that directly faught them and were a significant threat. Even then, if you recall Cozy’s fight with the guards, none of them died and Tirek was more then content to just leave drained ponies alone. And one can argue that changeling someones mind and personality is almost like killing them, which is exactly what Discord did.
look with tirek that was before he understood that there was nothing more important than friendship and even then he needed something to make him evil again and he had signs of remorse even before being betrayed by tirek which are signs the 3 didn’t have, with tree hugger that was because he thought he was losing his first friend and even then he stated that he wasn’t gonna hurt her he was just sending her to another dimension, i honestly found discord a bit ooc in matter of principles because even if his character is supposed to be a jerk hes not one on that level, either way none of these things come close to the purposefully attempted murder and attempted forcibly take over another kingdom. Discord was evil and still makes mistakes now but non of his actions as a villain included attempted murder of innocents.
Yea, I’m sure he meant well when he betrayed everyone to Tirek, almost banished Tree Hugger, endangoured multiple students and abused three people who were like he once was including a child. The fact that he got multiple second chances and was forgiven so many times while most of the trio are almost immedietly given up on is simply unfair.
everything he did before that, u mean having to learn to be better like everyone else learning to accept love often trying to help in his own chaotic way, he’s flawed no doubt but he ultimately means well and is trying to good friend.
After doing the deed despite being reformed. Not to mention everything he did before that.
Go and look up the mane 5 escape on youtube if u think he didn’t do anything to make up for it
She was restrainable in a way that allowed for rehabilitation. If Discord can get away with everything he did then its not so hard to show her some mercy as well.
“oh come on guys, you’re being too hard on them, they didn’t mean to do all this” he says while being consumed by the flames lit by the child arsonist
Doesn’t take away from the fact that others were as well. It’s no reason to give her such an unusually cruel punishment.
it does take away that fact when that kid is that damn evil
Like how he attempted to take over a non-affiliated school?
You’d be surprised by how smart kids can sometimes be. Either way her being smart and aware doesn’t change or take away from the fact that she’s a kid.
