Maaaaaaybe if you try to make it a little more subtle. Take Kamen Rider for instance, you probably wouldn’t even know half of the shows were just shilling for merchandise, and heck, sometimes the show is the one making the merchandise.

Because people would rather cross that bridge when they come to it. Fake info flies around the net all the time, so it’s better to assume fake unless you have enough proof, and I, for one, don’t consider some random reddit post to be enough proof.

I am an skeptic as much as the next guy, but all this about the dates being change and the numbers being change must also be met with skepticism when it doesn’t hold to simple analysis.
 
As it goes, it seems more like people would rather believe some guy is maliciously changing the image just to create shit rather than facing it, making stuff up as they go along.

And it’s fake because the sources are quite unreliable on that one.

More to the point, those three things have been pointed out for ages now, much longer than a year, mostly because of the toys, the fact it didn’t happen in the second season, and that you aren’t currently seeing Derpy (and had a hard time finding her afterwards on the episode after the debacle too).

I don’t know though I when I read this I got the impression that soon we might get for example: Rainbow Dash using all the girly accesories that come with her toy. But that may be just an exaggeration.
