that’s the million dollar question
Have you forgotten that this is My Little Pony, a show marketed to young girls? Do you really think they’d kill off a fan favourite character for being irresponsible? As far as I know, the only characters who have died onscreen is Sombra and the Storm King, and both of them were A: irredeemably evil villains with no sympathetic qualities to them, and B: only ambiguously killed off.
Pffff, good luck with that. They’re not gonna listen to a bunch of whiny self-entitled fanbrats who can’t let go.
Seriously, how have you not been banned yet?Ugh… I am so tired of the “Discord should die/be severely punished, but the three finale villains should be reformed, and get off scot-free” mentality…
@HIEfan36
Yeaaaah… Good luck with that, you’ll need it.
They did, I have better ideas for a finally like others indeed
He’s better off dead then alive with how irresponsible he is with his own magic
If he wasn’t reformed, he would have turned reality inside out and made the world go mad. If the unreformed Discord gathered the villains, he wouldn’t have bothered to help the Mane Six if they turned on him, he wouldn’t have helped Twilight defeat Sombra, and he wouldn’t have just turned the villains to stone, he would have done the same to Twilight and friends as well (okay, maybe not turn them to stone exactly, but something just as bad).
So in the end, reformed but untamed Discord is still a lot nicer than unreformed bringer of chaos Discord.
Discord made it clear he has not reformed. Twilight should’ve decided their fates, not Discord. From my perspective, he’s still disposing of “useless tools.” Also, let’s say his original plan went off without a hitch. Discord would still be disguised as Grogar and the villains succeeded in trashing the coronation and Twilight defeated them. More than likely, Discord would destroy them on the spot and still come out as an unrepentant jerk because he used them as tools.
It wasn’t exactly his idea alone though. Celestia and Luna were downright furious “There isn’t a punishment worthy of all you’ve done!” and ready to punish them in a way that would likely have been even worse than turned to stone. Discord just suggested an alternate method and asked (not demanded) if he could help them with it, they agreed.
Putting it all on Discord is (at least when it came to their ultimate fate) is a bit unfair. The princesses were just as responsible, and more likely would have been less merciful than Discord was if anything.
The only reason Discord wasn’t punished likely was because he ran across all of Equestria on foot to warn them of the threat, risked his life in order to free the Mane Six from the trio, and expressed regret over his actions, not to mention believed himself to have the best (if severely misguided) intentions.
Also, if Discord managed to cause this much damage after being reformed, what do you think would stop either of the other villains from doing something just as bad if they were given the same treatment?
It’d be one thing if he put them back in Tartarus, but to actually choose an alternative and arguably worse punishment? Besides, he didn’t see them as individuals, just pawns for an ill conceived test for Twilight. This isn’t like breaking a $30,000 vase. He purposely broke them out with the intent of giving them a super powerful artifact and using them to attack Twilight at the coronation. And after they served their purpose, he’d gladly dispose of them without a second thought. Does that sound heroic to you?

So you think it’s wrong for him to fix his own mess? Like, hey, I just released a bunch of dangerous villains, and now I see that was wrong for doing so, so I’m imprisoning them again, that okay with you?
No, someone else have to do it instead, for if you’re taking responsibility for your actions, you’re a bad person.
I’m sorry, but I simply don’t understand that logic.
Isn’t that exactly what he’s doing in this scene?
Hell, not even character development for villains is allowed. And that’s something you can teach your kids, by the ||yay||ing by.

This should have been the last straw where Twilight finally put her hoof down, said no to his bs, and finally cast Discord out of their group. That would have been real character development and really proven once and for all to Discord that his so called chaotic antics have dire consequences. But no, character development isn’t allowed in Season 9. And since Fluttershy and Discord are lovers, he can do no wrong apparently. The only lesson any character learned in the finale, is that no creature actually needs to take responsibility for their actions. Just bandage up the little mistake and move on, and not actually solve any real problem.
You think that’s bad, he joined Celestia and Luna in turning the trio to stone.
Plus any and all respect I had left for him.

But on this level?
There have been many times he messed up before though.
