Aesthetically, the transformation was beautifully done. The actual logic behind it, within the context of the series, still doesn’t make a lot of sense to me though. I’m going to have to watch it again later, because right now there’s a bunch of logic bombs going off in my head.

Yeah, this was supposed to be the last episode Hasbro commissioned.  
They probably had planned to move on with something else.
 
However, they decided later on to continue with the show.
