Some drawings I’ve been doodling between classes!
- “Cookie! How could you?!”
Cookie Butter winced. “I just wanted a change, Mom. It’s-”
“It’s awful! Our curls run in the family, Cooks. Why would you want to get rid of them? Were ponies bullying you? You should never change yourself because of someone else’s opinion.”
“What? No, Mom, that’s not it at all. No one was bullying me.”
Pinkie’s eyes were still wide from shock, her heartbeat drumming behind her chest. What was wrong with her daughter? Was she depressed? She couldn’t let this happen to Cookie, too… “Cooks, it’s okay. You can tell me anything, okay? We can go fix your hair, and then-”
“Mom,” she interrupted, face hot and swollen. She was about to cry. The lump in her throat threatened to explode at any moment. She swallowed. “It doesn’t need to be fixed, okay? That’s the whole point.” Mouth quivering as she tried to contain the flood of tears.
“It’s alright, honey. I didn’t want to open up when I was your age either. We’ll figure this out, okay? We have to do it together.”
Cookie hesitated for a long while. She knew she wouldn’t be able to say another word without crying, and she didn’t want her shaky voice to give her away. She thanked Celestia her father had just strolled into the room.
“What’s all this?” Cheese’s voice was heavy, as if he’d just woken up from a nap. “Cookie!” he remarked. She braced herself, but he… brightened up at the sight of her. “New hairstyle, I love it!” He smiled warmly. She nearly cried on the spot, the tears building up in her eyes. Thank Celestia for her father.
Pinkie’s fur stood upright. “Love it? Don’t you get it, Cheese? This is awful!”
Cheese’s head tilted, but then a reassuring smile flushed over his face, as if he knew something Cookie didn’t. “It’s alright, Pinkie. It’s not what you think.”
For a moment Cookie forgot her built up rage. Now there was just confusion painted in her wide eyes.
“No, it’s not. She’s depressed, Cheese. It’s not alright at all.” She inched closer to her daughter, offering a comforting hoof, but Cookie backed away.
“What? I’m not depressed, Mom.” Her eyes were angry, and her voice gave way with a crack. The tears would come any minute now.
“Pinkie,” Cheese said, a bit of urgency in his voice. “Let’s talk, okay? Not here.”
“No,” Cookie managed. “I want to hear. It’s about me, isn’t it?”
Cheese looked at her regretfully, then glanced at his wife. Pinkie looked down. “Cookie,” Cheese started. “In our family- well, your mother’s side, anyway- there has always been a… a sort of… connotation- with straight hair and sadness.”
Cookie wanted to laugh, but the tears still threatened to creep through. “Are you… joking? Aunt Maud has straight hair. What’s the big deal? So does Princess Twilight.”
Pinkie sat on the ground, turning her head away from Cheese and Cookie. Was she mad?
“I know, Kie. It does sound… a bit silly, no offense intended,” he snuck a glance at Pinkie. “But it’s serious, at least in our family. I think your mom’s just a bit worried, is all. I know you cut it yourself. Your mother just sees it differently- she’s had a different experience than you and me. Can you try to understand her perspective?”
Cookie wanted to, but it all sounded so… so pretend. What a silly thing to get mad over. “I guess,” she replied. She didn’t mean for it to come out as bitterly as it did.
Cheese smiled. “Thanks, Cooks. We love you, okay?” He guided Pinkie out of the room.
- New character, draconequus incoming
Her name is Tahna, pronounced “Taw-nuh.” She’s often mistaken as male but doesn’t really care, gender doesn’t mean much to her anyway. She’s from the Cadence x Tempest verse and is actually Dionysus’ best friend. They grew up together and she was training to be Dion’s mage. She’s the daughter of Discord and Chrysalis.
She has reptilian, crocodile-like features on her upper body. Very large lion paws and the body of a tiger. Still deciding on her tail and back legs, maybe a shark tail (or a grubby bug tail). She has glowy pores all over her body which look like freckles, but they’re actually a sixth sense sorta thing. With them she can sense electrical currents like movement and just energy in general (like sharks)
She’s radioactive. Literally. Her blood is purely radioactive and she can fire off an incredibly powerful, deadly blast from the pits of her stomach. It’s a purple blast, all her insides are purple and you can sorta see that from her nostrils (and her eyes).
She can also glow in the dark and is very much nocturnal. Her lil power breath blast can burn a hole straight through a mountain in 2 seconds tops, and the beam never stops moving. It travels continuously across the universe. There is a recharge moment, but it’s very brief. Not like she can blast every instant, more like every 3 minutes, but it would be exhausting for her to keep going like that. Good thing she’s a good guy…
Super close to both parents. Discord takes great pride in her abilities (but doesn’t like to admit that she’d easily beat him in any chaos fight, anywhere). Mom Chrysalis babies her a lot. She’s Chrysalis’s favorite grub child out of her thousands of kids, but she supposes Tahna is special after all, being part draconequus and all that.
Her body also constantly mutates. It’s a slow process and you’d only really notice it if you compared a picture of her from years ago to her current self. The radioactivity doesn’t kill her at all, it actually fuels her. Like her half sister from another dimension, Tahna can produce an extremely toxic venom from her teeth. While Khaleesi has long fangs intended for quick, deep releases of venom, Tahna has sturdier teeth (and more of them). Even though her bite is less deep, the venom releases slowly and painfully throughout the body, killing its victim very, very slowly. if she bites you ur dead
She can also produce “acid spit” of sorts. She’s just hella dangerous by nature but grew up in pony society with Dion so she stays chilling
As I mentioned earlier she trains as his mage for years but… Well, 1. Dion’s a unicorn, he doesn’t really need a magic user to protect him because he is a magic user.
-
She sort of realizes she doesn’t want to serve anyone else. That was supposedly her life calling, but she has all this power… why waste it with simple wizardry? She can do so much more than that
-
Sort of backing off on that, she doesn’t like feeling inferior. Even though she’s perfected her craft, she’s viewed as nothing more than Dion’s “aid” for a while. They really are friends though, Dion genuinely loved spending time with her growing up. They have their disagreements when they get older. For one, Dion is much too serious, and Tahna is way too carefree. Neither is true.
Tahna’s carefree, sure, but she’s also careful. She doesn’t use her powerful deadly purple ray beam even though she most definitely could. She’s respectful to nature and is actually very in touch with her spiritual side. And Dion’s not always serious. He’s actually super fun, just a bit awkward sometimes (at least to Tahna). Royalty trains you to be this perfect face. Dion’s always been one with the people though.
thas all i got, hope y’all are excited for spooky season!
