The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

A bitch? Certainly not. Manipulative? Possibly. But, come on… she’s got to have SOME way to deal with the multitude of threats to Equestria. She’d likely deal with them herself if Hasbro hadn’t mandated she can’t face down such dangers on her own. The only ones who apparently can are Twilight and her friends… and let’s face it, they wouldn’t have gotten any of the stuff they did done without the Princess guiding them. Nightmare Moon? Luna was only restored because Celestia told Twilight to make friends, who then became the elements. Discord? He had Twilight beat until Celestia reminded her about the magic of friendship. Chrysalis wasn’t planned, no, but in that case, Celestia did try to stop bug bitch herself. Too bad Hasbro wanted to show off Cadence that episode.

Making Twilight a princess was likely a move to take the pony who could keep Equestria safe with her unique power and put her in a position to more effectively project that power. Whether or not that is actually the case, not Tia just trying to reward Twilight, we’ll see in Season 4.

I realised Celestia was full of shit during the second episode of the series when she tries to pass off a letter clearly doubting Twilight as just being stupidly misleading.

@Background Pony
That’s the way I feel too. I wish we could get an episode next season where Twilight makes Celestia realize that even she isn’t perfect, and that it was wrong for her to push Twilight into being a princess even though she never said she wanted to be one.

I think Celestia’s manipulative but not a bitch. Actually I think it’s more that she loves TWilight immensely and that’s WHY she’s manipulative.

Which is kind of worse. She’s coming off more like an overly-protective helicopter parent.

Also, is Starswirl actually a good guy? Celestia said he didn’t understand friendship and it looks like he wrote a spell that could shut down the elements of harmony, or at the least really screw up a lot of ponies’ lives.

If this is guidance it’s some of the worst I’ve ever seen.

Infact this makes it worse still. It literally makes her a bitch. She’s guiding her into situations that could kill her, or cripple them forever.

I think she means well, but she’s really goddamn reckless. If Twilight and her friends weren’t the main characters of a children’s cartoon, the situations Celestia has put them in could have easily killed them all. If I was in her horse shoes, I’d be giving Twilight and company a lot more information and equipment before sending them on missions, as well as some combat training.

Starswirl the Bearded made many spells in his lifetime, and he died in relative obscurity seeing as only academic types know who he is. Twilight finished one spell that he left unfinished, and she gets turned into an alicorn princess. It doesn’t make sense no matter how you slice it.

@Star Cavalcade
I was thinking the same thing. You’d think Celestia would have given Twilight a heads up that the spell was dangerous and that there was no known way to reverse it, wouldn’t you?

She’s always been portrayed as a character who has the best intentions for her subjects, and one who knows much more than she ever let on.

Manipulative? Yeah, but she keeps herself in check, praise be.
