That’s one opportunity Equestria Girls kinda has. Fleshing out back round characters, and since it’s a bit closer to home with being human and more aimed at pre teens and teens with its high school setting, and being 2013, perhaps exploring subjects that would otherwise be taboo in a kids show, like homosexuality.
