Glanco has drawn Spike with more humanized traits: >>138445
Then Pokemon could be said on average to have the intelligence of Border Collie’s.
You know, scientific studies have calculated that Border Collies have roughly the same intelligence level as a six year old child, a really smart Border Collie would be pretty damn smart any way you look at it.
well assuming it’s true of course.
Like I said, for the most part. I only ever played the first game, or watched teh anime past the first couple of seasons, but outside of certain exceptions they struck me as being fairly smart dogs, that you could only remember how to do four tricks.
That’s a good point. Well what I’m saying is, is that he isn’t a lizard in the show, so why humanize the ponies, and downgrade him?
pokemon intelligence varies from pokeman to pokeman.
Yeah, but Equestria is a world of several different sentient species living together, all of equal intelligence. Pokemon always struck me as being really smart dogs for the most part.
Well, Meowth is a pokemon, and most pokemon are treated like pets, except the anime Meowth can walk on two legs, read, write, speak speak fluent whatever it is they in Kanto, and is, of course not treated like a pet
Yeah, I noticed that, and I liked it, it’s a unique way of blending in their different traits.
As for spike, they did an okay job here. I know that they weren’t happy with the way they drew human spike, so it’s understandable why he’s anthro. And again, while I wish there were more human traits in this design, at least he’s still humanish here, unlike other ways artists depict him. Some even turn him into a pet lizard, when really, we’ve seen him petsit, showing that he obviously isn’t a pet, and the unlike him, pets can’t talk. So it makes zero sense.
True but I like what Glanco does. Pegasi are winged humans and Unicorns are elves.
But in that case, why not keep rainbow dash as a pegasus, or twilight as an alicorn, since being those two things were an important part of their character too.
I mean, you can humanize spike with dragon traits (like a tail or reptilian eyes, and the dragon fire). The only difference is that he’d feel awkward not being in touch with his inner man, and wasn’t like other guys (a nod to dragon quest, where he was upset that he wasn’t like other dragons). So it’s not impossible to humanize him.
I always hate it when people humanize him with the rest of the mane 6-he’s a dragon, a completely different species from ponies. When they’re humanized it doesn’t make sense for him to suddenly be the same species. You take away his differences with ponies (or people, in this context) and you remove one of his major character traits.
…Though now I’m wondering what’d be weirder interspecies. Human and dragon or dragon and pony?
…Bah! Nevermind just enjoying the cutes.
Still a sweet picture.
It’s still adorable though.
