Yeah, that was Roger’s Sonic’s current official game voice, whom was also in “Wreck-it Ralph.” (Seems Sega likes crossovers.)

Ben is new to the series, but probably going to be strictly only his movie voice, as Sega still uses Roger, whom isn’t bad either.

Well, it wasn’t the first time Ben played as Sonic. There was this “OK K.O.!” crossover episode on Cartoon Network where K.O. teams up with Sonic and Tails against Lord Boxman.

Jim Carry was great as Robotnik, even if he didn’t look like the character. (Until later.)
Though, I think Ben Schwartz deserves some kudos as Sonic’s voice, as well. He was great too, and really understood his personality.

Eh, we “get it,” everybody already agrees the redesign is better. Old meme is old.

I enjoyed both movies just fine. They may not be Oscar-worthy, but compared to most video game movies, they were freakin’ gold, and I don’t mind watching them repeatedly.

I think with Sonic they were just trying to play it safe, and focus more on him, then his world, (which we did get a peak at) to draw in casual audiences, (if they only focused on catering to Sonic fans, then the movie would bomb) and in a way explain why in some games Sonic is “in the human world,” (kinda like in “Sonic X”) and focus mostly on Sonic & Robotnik’s orgins, without thankfully focusing too much on that like most superhero movies do. The road comedy aspect was also a nice throwback to classic ‘90s movies, and the “fish out of water” aspact, while cliché, helped Sonic show more emotion then just, “I’m so cool! Gatta go fast!”
It also had many in-jokes, and easter eggs showing the movie makers knew alot about the Sonic franchise, and put alot of love into the movie, without “pandering” too much.
And thankfully, unlike most “human focused adaptations,” Sonic was the main focus, and the humans were just his support.

So there’s still honestly more redeeming factors, and I look forward to the sequel, which may include more characters, and possibly more focus on Sonic’s world.

Interesting opinion, but I disagree. Neither movie was the height of storytelling, but Detective Pikachu felt like a Pokemon movie far more than Sonic felt like a Sonic movie. The Pikachu one at least took place in the Pokemon world, involved Pokemon, had Pokemon all over, and its plot fit the setting. Meanwhile the Sonic movie was literally the same basic “fish out of water finds a friend” kind of story we’ve seen a million times. It was lazy and wasted a perfectly good opportunity to do something more interesting with the character.
