I stopped playing Magic after Kamigawa because things were going a little too crazy (you basically had to begin buying by the box just to have a chance, let alone be competitive), so it may as well be uncommon by now, but I think the rarity should be mythical.

What inspired Acidfang Orange?

Discord’s anecdote at the very start of the Fluttershy/Soundwave story, about oranges in his realm that may bite back.

Who in this cards art is supposed to be dead?

A bit of a flavor bend in order to accommodate available unused design space. In theory, this art could work just fine for a reprint of Kindred Summons, but, well, that card already exists.

These were fun, but Issue #2 was definitely the highlight of the series for me.

Also, it turns out the Decepticons had robotic gorillas eons before Optimus Primal made them cool.

They had Apeface, too.

Interesting. I’m not sure if Soundwave is just paying lip service to the idea of friendship to get out of a disastrous situation, or if he’s recognizing the obvious benefits of superior numbers and loyalty born of devotion rather than intimidation.

Probably both. His whole thing is “the loyal Decepticon.”

So, this panel is how I learned that Battle Unicorn is a thing… though he seems to be much further along in the timeline.

Only about 300 years. For a Cybertronian, that’s nothing. For Mach Kick, he could be from slightly before to some vague point after, depending on specific continuity.

Wow. I knew there were a lot of fighter jet Decepticons, but I didn’t realize they’d reached “Mortal Kombat ninja” levels of recolors.

They’ve always been at that level.

The defeat sequence doesn’t seem like it should work nearly as well as it does, but I can’t argue with results.

All ponies are superhuman, so that helps.

There’s a lot to take in here, from Fluttershy bringing butterflies to a robot fight to Optimus clocking Starscream in the face, but I’d like to draw attention to Rarity riding Arcee. Because it is truly amazing.

My favorite bit is how she’s about to run over Shrapnel.

Also, in regards to the comments and Discord not dealing with Decepticons before, presumably he started messing with them after this.
